SINEXCEL Contributes to Latvia's Largest Wind Farm Energy Storage Project with Advanced Technology

Introduction

In a groundbreaking development, SINEXCEL, a company recognized by BloombergNEF as a Tier-1 manufacturer for 2026, has delivered an impressive twelve 1725-kW Power Conversion Systems (PCS) for Latvia's largest wind farm energy storage project. This significant venture is located at the Tārgale wind farm and has recently achieved commercial operation.

Project Overview

The innovative system, with a total energy storage capacity of 20.64 MWh, is designed to participate in the local frequency regulation market. It stands out as the first station in the Baltic region qualified for all frequency regulation services, marking an essential achievement for both grid stability and the integration of renewable energy sources across the Baltics.

Technical Specifications of the 1725kW PCS

The 1725-kW PCS offered by SINEXCEL features a maximum efficiency rate of 98.5% and boasts rapid response times in milliseconds. It provides key grid support services such as frequency regulation and voltage control, in addition to Low/High Voltage Ride Through (L/HVRT) services. Notably, it is designed for robust operational environments, carrying an IP54 protection rating and capable of functioning reliably within a temperature range from -20°C to 60°C.

Moreover, the system is fully certified for the European market, including CE, VDE 4110/4120, and EN 50549 standards. Additional grid compliance certifications extend to significant markets such as the United States, Australia, Japan, and Thailand, ensuring its adaptability for large-scale operations worldwide.

A standout feature of the 1725-kW PCS is its intelligent multi-battery connection, which prevents circulating currents between parallel clusters, effectively protecting battery lifespan. The design includes a fully modular architecture, allowing on-site replacements of individual power modules without the need for system shutdown, significantly reducing maintenance downtime and operational costs.

Proven Track Record

The Tārgale project not only emphasizes the commercial viability of the 1725-kW system but also demonstrates its successful deployment on a large scale. As of now, SINEXCEL has surpassed the milestone of delivering over 1 GW of the 1725-kW PCS globally, reinforcing market confidence in its reliability and adaptability to various regulatory and climatic conditions.

This installation not only solidifies SINEXCEL's reputation as a reliable partner in the global energy storage market but also highlights its commitment to advancing the global energy transition. The company is certified in over 40 countries, with a total of 17 GW/50 GWh deployed across more than 5,000 projects and the presence of 10 global service centers.
