Exciting Announcement: Frescobol JBG®F Odaiba Cup 2026
The Japan Frescobol Association (JFBA) has officially confirmed that it will host the Frescobol JBG®F Odaiba Cup 2026 over May 3rd and 4th at the scenic Odaiba Beach in Tokyo's Minato Ward. This highly anticipated event is aimed at promoting frescobol, a unique communication design sport that emphasizes teamwork.
Frescobol, which originated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1945, is unlike other competitive sports in that it combines cooperation with entertainment, allowing players to engage in a rally rather than merely compete against each other. The sport has been widely adopted worldwide and has gained a reputation as a “sport of consideration,” where players work together to achieve a common goal.
The inaugural World Beach Games took place in Doha, Qatar, in 2019, marking a significant milestone for beach and marine sports globally. Since 2014, Japan has worked towards hosting its own beach games, culminating in the upcoming Japan Beach Games® Festival Odaiba 2026 (JBG®F Odaiba 2026). This prominent event is expected to attract around 35,000 visitors based on past attendance.
Over the past few years, the JFBA has organized official frescobol matches at this international festival, providing remarkable exposure for players wishing to showcase their talents in urban beach settings. The Frescobol JBG®F Odaiba Cup 2026 will continue this tradition, featuring an official competition on May 3rd and 4th, followed by a free workshop on May 5th, inviting all enthusiasts to join in on the fun.
This year, there will be 12 competitive events alongside 21 workshops, making it an exciting weekend for both novice players and experienced athletes alike. Attendees can learn more about the sport, try their hand at frescobol, and connect with fellow participants in a vibrant atmosphere.
