Kutta Technologies Launches the KTAC 2.0
Kutta Technologies, LLC, a leader in software and hardware solutions for critical unmanned systems, has announced the launch of the Kutta Tactical Controller 2.0 (KTAC 2.0). This latest advancement signifies a major enhancement in command and control capabilities for unmanned drones, focusing on flexibility, reliability, efficiency, and affordability.
The KTAC 2.0 was specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern tactical military operations. It serves as a universal controller that enables operators to manage multiple types of robotic platforms—including ground, maritime, and aerial unmanned systems—using a single handheld device. This innovative approach allows for more streamlined missions, improving operational outcomes.
According to Douglas Limbaugh, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at Kutta, the goal of the company is to equip soldiers with innovative tools that enhance the success of their missions. He emphasized that the KTAC 2.0's modular design and versatile control options give operators the adaptability needed for various tactical situations, ensuring logistical superiority in the most challenging environments.
The KTAC 1.0 previously controlled over 35 different unmanned systems for U.S. military and allied partners. The introduction of KTAC 2.0 builds upon this foundation, offering a universal platform with two configurations—tethered and untethered (with a wireless module)—that integrates seamlessly into existing ecosystems like Nett Warrior and ATAK-enabled devices.
At just under two pounds and featuring an IP-67 protection rating, the KTAC 2.0 is both durable and portable, designed for battlefield conditions. Its lightweight nature reduces the physical burden on soldiers by over two pounds compared to conventional solutions, particularly beneficial for mobility and endurance during extended operations. The non-proprietary and open interfaces utilize Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technologies, resulting in cost reductions while maximizing interoperability between smartphones, tablets, and computers.
Matthew Savoca, Executive Vice President of Kutta, highlighted the cost-effective and high-quality nature of the KTAC 2.0, stating that it represents a significant advancement in providing mission-critical technology to defense ministries worldwide.
KTAC 2.0 supports various military applications, enabling a single control setup for diverse robotic platforms. Its compatibility with Kutta’s Unified Ground Control Station (UGCS) software and STANAG 4586 protocols enhances mission planning and real-time situational awareness, ensuring that users can adapt seamlessly to changing operational landscapes.
Kutta Technologies continues to drive innovation through strategic partnerships and ongoing research, solidifying the KTAC 2.0's role in evolving with users' operational demands. The commitment remains focused on reducing soldier fatigue while enhancing combat effectiveness.
“This product not only redefines the next generation of tactical control for unmanned systems but also reflects Kutta's relentless dedication to equipping military forces with the necessary tools for success both now and in the future,” Savoca concluded.
