Hyundai Unveils Ambitious Growth Strategy During 2026 CEO Investor Day

In an important announcement at the 2026 CEO Investor Day, Hyundai Motor Company laid out its ambitious plans for future growth, targeting a global sales volume of 5.55 million units by 2030. This bold objective reflects the company's commitment to not only strengthening its market presence but also improving profitability across various sectors of its operations.

Hyundai aims to significantly increase its sales of electrified vehicles, aiming for 60% of its total sales mix to comprise electric models by 2030, a substantial rise from the current figure of 23% in 2025. This move is part of a larger strategy that includes over 100 product launches and refreshes by the end of the decade. Notably, the company will debut more than 18 new models and expand into new market segments. Within the next eight months alone, seven new vehicles are set to be introduced.

The company is also focused on launching its Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) models by the first half of 2027, promising more than 600 miles of range per charge—an impressive feat that showcases Hyundai's commitment to innovation in electric mobility. Additionally, Hyundai plans to ramp up its production capabilities in the United States, with the Santa Fe EREV slated to be manufactured at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. This is expected to enhance North American capacity by 500,000 units, achieving over 80% localization in parts supply.

Furthermore, the company is set to expand its robotics capabilities in collaboration with Boston Dynamics, enhancing distribution and financing operations. The growth of its robotics division is projected to increase tenfold by the end of this year, indicating an exciting direction for Hyundai's technological advancements.

Hyundai's performance division is also making strides, aiming for 100,000 annual sales by 2030 for its performance lineup, Hyundai N. In addition, Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, is celebrating a decade with its new hybrid and EREV models, projecting sales of 350,000 units across more than 40 markets by 2030.

As part of its advanced technology roadmap, Hyundai is set to roll out its robotaxi services in collaboration with Waymo, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of 2026 and production of U.S.-made autonomous vehicles commencing in 2028.

An ambitious plan for autonomous driving technologies was outlined, with Atria AI beginning real-world data collection in Korea this year. The introduction of Level 2+ autonomous capabilities on Hyundai's first mass-produced self-driving vehicle is planned for 2028, developed in partnership with NVIDIA. Complementing this will be the emergence of a 100-megawatt AI data center fueled by over 50,000 GPUs, projected to become operational by 2029.

Highlighting its commitment to sustainability, Hyundai has announced innovations in battery technology that will significantly enhance vehicle performance, including in-house battery cells achieving double the output of prior high-nickel cells and a 40% faster charging capability. The introduction of new Thermal Runaway Protection technology on the Genesis GV90 further demonstrates Hyundai's focus on safety and reliability.

Regarding fiscal performance, Hyundai has aimed to achieve an operating profit margin exceeding 9% by 2030, up from earlier forecasts of 8–9%, driven by an expected three-percentage point reduction in sales costs. In the first half of 2026, the company reported impressive revenue figures amounting to 95.2 trillion won, alongside a 5.6% operating profit margin and a market capitalization averaging 105 trillion won to date.

In summary, Hyundai Motor Company's 2026 CEO Investor Day has set a clear and ambitious roadmap towards future growth, showcasing its commitment to innovation and sustainability while aspiring to capture a larger segment of the global automotive market.
