Immersive Sound Attraction: Crafting Your Unique Story in Hotel Rooms

A Unique Story Awaits: Immersive Sound Experiences in Hotels

MocciHack Inc., headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and the Kansai Innovation Center (MUIC Kansai) in Osaka, have come together to introduce a groundbreaking immersive sound attraction service that is set to transform the traditional hotel experience.

From July 19, 2025, a pioneering experiment will unfold using an innovative 3D sound solution called 'imavo™'. This service will allow guests to dive deep into a variety of video and sound content directly via their smartphones and earphones, creating a new type of attraction-like experience within their hotel rooms. This means sound will no longer be merely heard but felt, providing an extraordinary level of immersion.

What to Expect from the Experiment

This experiment is aimed at about 2,300 hotel rooms nationwide, with the immersive sound attraction running until the end of October 2025 or into November, depending on the hotel. Essential details include:

  • - Start Date: July 19, 2025
  • - End Date: September to October 2025 (varies by hotel)
  • - Locations: Participating hotel rooms and nearby spots
  • - Target Audience: Guests (free experience with a survey), fans of collaborative IPs.

The approach to this experience could not be more unique. A sound novel game titled 'Strange Room' has been scripted specifically for this project by renowned horror storyteller Ayumu Jotani. Participants will embody the story’s protagonist, engaging with the plot through a sound novel format. Two variations are available: one with player choices and another to enjoy the narrative as a passive listener. Notably, English subtitles will be provided for international tourists, with plans to soon add English audio as well.

Participating Hotels

This immersive sound experience, themed around ghost stories, will only be available at select hotels. Guests at these locations will be able to partake in this unique offering at no additional cost:
  • - Ikebukuro Sunshine City Prince Hotel, 2 rooms available (July 19 - October 19)
  • - Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel, all rooms (ending October 31)
  • - Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu, all rooms (ending September 30)
  • - Kyoto Tokyu Hotel, all rooms (ending October 31)
  • - R Hotels Inn Asahikawa, all rooms (ending October 31)
  • - Hostel in Gion, Kyoto, all rooms (ending October 31)
  • - Stadium City Hotel Nagasaki, all rooms (ending October 30)
  • - Tokyo Dome Hotel, all rooms (ending October 31)

Key Features of the Business Model

This initiative is set to explore modern vacationing by:

  • - It requires no special equipment, allowing anyone to dive into this world with just a smartphone and a QR code for easy access by hotel guests.
  • - The integration of IPs and influencers opens the door to various business expansions.

Future Outlook

MocciHack aims to gather data through surveys during this experimental phase to engineer guest experiences continually. By enhancing the value of accommodation and excursion experiences, they expect to attract new customer demographics, especially IP fans and international visitors.

In the foreseeable future, we plan to collaborate with local artists for live immersive content experiences or even escape game events within hotels. This evolution would turn hotels from mere places to stay into immersive theaters for fans, generating new avenues of tourism and lodging value.
