CLOU Electronics Launches BESS Tour to Propel Renewable Energy Advances in Latin America
On March 19, 2025, the Energy Year Summit Chile commenced in Santiago, marking a pivotal moment in the renewable energy sector as CLOU Electronics initiated its 2025 BESS Tour. This tour is representative of CLOU's commitment to supporting Latin America's energy transition, which recently saw Chile achieve over 40% energy generation from renewable sources in 2024. The need for energy storage systems (BESS) has become increasingly crucial for maintaining grid stability, especially highlighted by the nationwide blackout attributed to transmission failures.
During the summit’s second day, industry stakeholders gathered for a workshop that underscored the need for sustainable solutions as Chile seeks to bolster its renewable energy framework. Participants included investors, developers, and service providers, creating a rich environment for exchanging insights and strategies to further advance the sector.
Key figures from the event comprised Songyu He, CLOU's Overseas General Manager, who announced Alejandro Mc Donough's appointment as the new General Manager for the Latin America division. Jeffrey Tu, Senior Director of CLOU Latin America, delivered an impactful presentation titled "Why CLOU - as a Relevant Player in Future Opportunities of Chile's Energy Storage," focusing on the company’s advanced products and localized services aligned with Chile’s energy goals.
A notable highlight of the workshop was the introduction of the Aqua-C2.5, a cutting-edge utility-scale energy storage system developed by CLOU, presented by Carlos Gallardo, Senior Application Engineer. This sophisticated unit features a high capacity of LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery cells, showcasing both High Voltage Box and String PCS options. The Aqua-C2.5 system is designed in a compact 20-ft container where long battery modules deliver a remarkable nominal capacity exceeding 5MWh, substantially enhancing its power density.
CLOU’s ongoing support of the Latin American renewable energy sector is evident through this innovative technological offering and the extensive customer assistance that encompasses the entire project lifecycle. Leonardo Giangrandi from Ingenova emphasized CLOU's comprehensive range of services from initial consultations to complete installation and after-sales support, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the specific needs of the region.
With Latin America's ambitious goal of sourcing 80% of its energy from renewables by 2030, CLOU Electronics is resolutely dedicated to providing sustainable energy solutions. These efforts not only aim to meet current demands but also tackle long-term environmental challenges, facilitating a smooth transition to a cleaner, more reliable energy future.
