Employees of Commonwealth Care Alliance and CareSource Fundraise for Advocates, Raising $50,000 for Community Support
Fundraising Efforts Enhance Community Support
In a remarkable display of community spirit and corporate social responsibility, employees of Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) and CareSource have collectively raised $50,000 dollars for Advocates, a nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts dedicated to providing essential services for individuals facing challenges related to developmental disabilities, mental health issues, and other complex needs. The funds were raised through CCA's 2026 Workplace Giving Campaign, an initiative run by the CareSource Foundation that encourages employees to support organizations that are addressing critical health and social issues within the communities they operate.
This year, the Workplace Giving Campaign focuses on the ongoing mental health crisis that affects various communities across the United States. As the modern realities of mental health issues become increasingly evident, CCA and CareSource have committed to not only delivering high-quality care but also fostering a culture of support and empathy within their workforce.
John Koehn, the President of Commonwealth Care Alliance and CareSource’s Market President for Massachusetts, expressed his pride in the employees' generosity, stating, "CCA and CareSource employees care, and they generously support the communities we serve. Bringing people together to help each other is at the heart of our mission."
Empowering Lives through Advocacy
Advocates play a crucial role in the community by supporting over 50,000 individuals and families each year. Their approach is person-centered, ensuring that care is tailored to the unique needs of each individual. One of their key initiatives, The Friendship Project, aims to reduce social isolation by pairing volunteers from the community with individuals in need of companionship, thus enhancing their quality of life. CCA has had a longstanding partnership with Advocates, supporting their mission of fostering meaningful connections within the community.
Regina Marshall, CEO of Advocates, expressed gratitude towards CCA and CareSource employees for their significant contribution. She remarked that this donation symbolizes a collective commitment to ensuring that all individuals have access to crucial support and opportunities that enable them to thrive in their communities. “Partnerships like ours with CCA help expand our impact and ensure that more people facing challenges can access the services they need,” she noted.
The Bigger Picture of Community Support
The efforts of CCA and CareSource not only strengthen productivity within their organizations but also bring awareness to pressing social issues, particularly within mental health. As healthcare providers, they recognize that mental well-being is integral to overall health, and their initiatives aim to address this openly.
In addition to benefiting Advocates, the 2026 CareSource Workplace Giving Campaign has also identified other organizations as beneficiaries, including Integrated Services for Behavioral Health in Ohio and The Children's Cabinet in Nevada. Each of these organizations is dedicated to tackling critical health challenges, and the involvement of CareSource employees demonstrates an ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for families in need.
