Green Water and Power Partners with Goodwill SoCal
In a significant development for vocational training in the energy sector, Green Water and Power (GWP) has launched an exciting partnership with Goodwill Southern California. This collaboration aims to create on-the-job training opportunities focused on the electrical trades, targeting individuals who are eager to acquire new skills and enhance their employability.
Overcoming Employment Barriers
The initiative is a response to the glaring need for skilled workers in the electrical field and aligns with the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). The program is particularly designed for individuals with limited or no prior work experience. Eligible participants must:
- - Not currently be employed by GWP or have past employment with the company.
- - Be unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week.
- - Be authorized to work in the United States.
- - For male candidates, registration with the Selective Services is required.
- - Provide proof of residence within Los Angeles County.
This initiative is not just beneficial for GWP, which aims to tap into a pool of motivated and trainable candidates, but it also provides participants with a golden opportunity to gain practical, marketable skills in a growing industry.
Hands-on Training Experience
Participants in this program will undergo hands-on training in the electrical trade, which is crucial for obtaining reliable skills that can pave the way for long-term employment. Graduates of the program will possess the expertise needed for potential positions within GWP or other firms in the electrical sector.
Christine Karlovic, Vice President of Green Water and Power, explains the ethos behind this initiative: “At GWP, we believe in empowering our community by making access to skilled trades training more inclusive. By partnering with Goodwill SoCal, we’re able to provide individuals who may not have had previous opportunities with the tools and experience needed to build lasting careers.”
Shelah C. Potter, Associate Director at Goodwill Southern California, emphasizes that this program is about breaking down persistent barriers to employment. “Together, we are offering a supportive pathway for people to enter the workforce, learn in-demand skills, and improve their lives,” she says.
