On August 10, 2025, Yamaki Co., Ltd., based in Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture, partnered with the media platform "Kodomo Orange Page" to host an exciting event titled "See, Shave, and Taste! Bonito Flakes – Supported by Yamaki." This unique event was designed for families to explore the world of bonito flakes through all five senses, allowing participants to learn while having fun.   • - Program: Lectures on the manufacturing process and types of bonito flakes, hands-on shaving experience, tasting the umami of bonito dashi (comparison of miso soup with and without bonito flakes), cooking class by culinary expert Minai Kinuko, and tastings.

Highlights from the Event



The event saw 15 family pairs actively participate. After learning the basics of bonito flakes, participants were eager to try their hand at shaving bonito flakes, many of whom were engaging in this activity for the first time. This opportunity to connect with the fish product led participants to feel a closer bond with bonito flakes. Following the shaving experience, they enjoyed a tasting session comparing the flavors of dashi-infused miso soup and were guided by renowned culinary expert Minai Kinuko to create three dishes featuring "Tokuichiban® Hanakatsuobushi" and "Ice Matured® Mild Shavings." As they savored the rich aromas and flavors, families enjoyed deepening their appreciation for bonito flakes.
