Meiji America Expands Hello Panda Production
Meiji America Inc., a subsidiary of Meiji Company, has announced a substantial investment of approximately 10 billion yen (around 64.6 million dollars) to expand its production capabilities for the beloved snack, Hello Panda, at its York, Pennsylvania facility. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the production line of Hello Panda and modernizing existing equipment to meet the growing demand for this popular chocolate-filled biscuit snack across the United States.
The introduction of the Hello Panda production line in York marks the first of its kind in the region, allowing Meiji to expand its production network to two sites on the East and West coasts, accommodating the rising popularity of Hello Panda. With sales predicted to triple by 2024 compared to the figures reported in 2018, the expansion is crucial for Meiji’s strategy to significantly boost revenue in the U.S. market. The existing production line in Santa Ana, California, will also undergo enhancements in 2025 to further support increased output.
In response to the hungry market demand, the newly added line in York is expected to begin operations sequentially starting in the fiscal year 2027. Meiji’s objective is to double its sales in the U.S. by 2030, which will be approximately two times the anticipated figures from 2024.
