Eve Air Mobility, known for its pioneering advancements in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) technology, recently received significant news from Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). The agency published proposed noise certification criteria specific to the Eve 100 aircraft, a move that positions Eve at the forefront of environmental aviation standards. "Noise is a significant factor in aviation environmental certification and plays a vital role in public acceptance of urban air mobility," stated Isabel Lima, Head of Noise and Vibration at Eve. Establishing clear noise certification protocols is essential as it ensures that new aircraft designs consider environmental impacts, thus fostering community trust and acceptance.

The eVTOL’s design has prioritized noise reduction throughout its development. Employing a lift-plus-cruise architecture, Eve's aircraft is engineered to deliver a considerably quieter experience than conventional helicopters. A pivotal component of Eve's strategy for community acceptance includes the findings from its Visual Sound Perception Study, carried out in partnership with the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR). This research utilized innovative techniques such as virtual reality and sound simulations to gauge community sentiments regarding eVTOL operations in various urban and suburban landscapes.

In conjunction with acoustic modeling and engineering prototype flight tests, Eve's ongoing assessments will further inform noise characteristics as the Eve 100 program progresses. The insights gained will enhance the understanding and optimization of the aircraft’s environmental impact before its commercial launch.

After the consultation period concludes, ANAC will review all stakeholder feedback and continue refining the certification requirements. Eve is committed to collaborative efforts with ANAC as the primary authority for certification while also pursuing international validation strategies that will facilitate the global deployment of the Eve 100.
