RTX’s Pratt & Whitney Unveils Major Investment in Poland

In a significant move to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of RTX (NYSE: RTX), has announced a $100 million investment in its Rzeszów facility located in Poland. This strategic investment aims to expand production capacity and incorporate advanced technological capabilities to cater to the escalating global demand for both commercial and military engines, particularly the Pratt & Whitney GTF™, F135, and F100 engines.

The expansion project involves the establishment of a new facility dedicated to specialized processes, including isothermal forging parts which cover essential operations such as heat treatment, sonic machining, and inspection. This ambitious plan is complemented by another recent investment of $200 million aimed at enhancing the isothermal forging press operations at Pratt & Whitney's Columbus Forge facility in Georgia, USA. Together, these initiatives are expected to yield a 30% boost in output of critical engine constituents, notably rotating compressor and turbine disks by the year 2028.

Piotr Owsicki, the general manager of Pratt & Whitney in Rzeszów, stated, "This investment reflects our continued commitment to increase production capacity for our customers and deliver more, faster. Expanding our presence in Poland allows us to build the strategic capabilities needed to produce key technologies for advanced commercial and military aircraft engines across both current and future platforms."

Poland represents RTX's most substantial investment and employee base situated outside the United States, boasting over 9,400 employees across its Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon sectors. The operations at Pratt & Whitney in Poland are centered around advanced manufacturing and technology development for various applications such as commercial and military engines, turboprops, and auxiliary power units. Among their critical manufacturing processes are the production of pivotal engine components like the GTF fan drive gear system and F100 static structures alongside crucial parts for the F135 engines.
