DeTect, Inc., a leading radar technology provider, recently announced that it has secured a contract to deliver its MERLIN 7360 True3D Bird Detection Radar to the bustling Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia. This state-of-the-art radar system is expected to significantly enhance aviation safety by improving wildlife hazard management at the airport.
The MERLIN radar technology is renowned for its capability to detect and track bird and drone activity in three dimensions, ensuring that the surrounding airspace around airports is closely monitored. The contract entails the deployment of radar units at each end of the airport's runways, providing comprehensive 360-degree coverage. This setup will allow the airport’s wildlife management teams to receive real-time alerts about any high-risk bird activities, contributing to safer flight operations.
With over 600 installations worldwide, the MERLIN series is the most widely used bird detection radar in the field of aviation safety and wildlife protection.
