Zurich Insurance Extends Title Sponsorship of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Recently, Zurich Insurance, along with the Fore!Kids Foundation and the PGA TOUR, declared a multi-year extension of its title sponsorship for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans until 2030. This announcement marks a significant milestone in a partnership that has spanned over two decades since it began in 2005. The extension reflects Zurich’s unwavering dedication to supporting the vibrant community of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.
The Zurich Classic, originally established as a team event, worked with the PGA TOUR to evolve into its current format in 2017. The event stands out as the only team event on the FedExCup schedule and is scheduled to commence on April 24, 2025, at TPC Louisiana. This year, defending champions Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are back, along with notable Zurich Golf Ambassadors like Billy Horschel, Sahith Theegala, and Collin Morikawa. Audiences can look forward to the event being televised on CBS/Paramount+, GOLF Channel, and other platforms.
PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan expressed enthusiasm over the continued relationship, stating, "Zurich has become synonymous with good corporate citizenship, demonstrating significant economic and charitable contributions to the community. It’s a true success story."
Zurich's engagement with the tournament has been profound, especially following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. In the wake of the disaster, Zurich committed to aiding the local community and was the first major sporting event to return to New Orleans post-Katrina. Since then, Zurich has played a vital role in supporting various charitable initiatives, achieving significant fundraising milestones. To date, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans has raised over $30 million for charitable organizations, including substantial contributions to schools and meal programs.
This year, Zurich has added to its philanthropic efforts by donating an additional $25,000 to the First Tee – Greater New Orleans, aimed at empowering local youth through golf, and $50,000 to the Ellis Marsalis Center, which supports youth music education and community programs.
Mark Romig, Chairman of the Fore!Kids Foundation, acknowledged Zurich’s vital support, emphasizing how their commitment has positively impacted numerous non-profit organizations. He also noted the ongoing effort to promote a sustainable environment during the event, benefiting future generations.
The Zurich Classic takes place at TPC Louisiana, a Pete Dye-designed course that celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. The tournament's return to TPC Louisiana in 2007, after a temporary shift due to Hurricane Katrina, marks a symbol of resilience for both the community and the event itself.
As Zurich Insurance continues to invest in the Zurich Classic, they also background their wider mission to foster resilience and build stronger communities through their insurance services. They serve a broad spectrum of clients, including over 90% of the Fortune 500 companies, emphasizing their role as a leader in providing risk management solutions. With over 10,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada, Zurich has positioned itself as a trusted partner and a responsible corporate citizen.
In a statement regarding the extension, Zurich's North America CEO, Kristof Terryn, voiced enthusiasm for what the extended partnership holds. “Our connection to this resilient city runs deep. The Zurich Classic has supported that resilience over the past two decades,” Terryn noted.
Through its sustained efforts, Zurich Insurance not only enhances the golfing experience but significantly contributes to the social fabric and economic prosperity of New Orleans, ensuring that the spirit of community and collaboration continues to thrive into the next decade and beyond.
