The 137th Canton Fair Kicks Off in Guangzhou

On April 15, 2025, the 137th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, officially opened its doors in Guangzhou. This renowned event, acknowledged as one of the largest trade fairs worldwide, is set to run until May 5, featuring a diverse array of products across 55 exhibition sections grouped into three thematic phases: “Advanced Manufacturing,” “Quality of Life at Home,” and “Beauty of Life.”

This year’s fair has introduced 172 product zones, with a significant focus on innovative technologies. A fresh highlight of this edition is the opening of a specialized area dedicated to service robots, reflecting the increasing importance of automation in various sectors. This area became a major attraction, eagerly visited by buyers keen to witness demonstrations from various robotics, including robotic dogs, industrial exoskeletons, and autonomous navigation robots.

The Canton Fair continues to embrace a hybrid model, maintaining an online platform accessible year-round. The enhancements made to this digital platform aim to foster new business opportunities and to stabilize and improve the quality of external trade for China. According to Zhang Sihong, Deputy Director of the China Foreign Trade Center, this event serves as a bridge fostering global cooperation, drawing over 200,000 international buyers from 215 countries who pre-registered prior to the opening.

The first phase of the fair, themed “Advanced Manufacturing,” highlights China’s industrial innovation capacity. With 11,304 exhibitors, approximately 3,700 companies are focused on electric vehicles, lithium batteries, solar cells, digital technologies, and intelligent manufacturing. This emphasis on high-tech and green solutions underlines China's ongoing transformation into a high-tech manufacturing powerhouse.
