AutoFlight Achieves Historic Milestone with First 5-eVTOL Formation Flight Globally

AutoFlight Sets New Standard with 5-eVTOL Formation Flight

In a groundbreaking achievement for the field of aviation, AutoFlight has successfully executed the world's first formation flight involving five eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft. This significant event took place on November 1, 2026, at the company’s flight testing facility located by Bailian Lake in Kunshan, China, during a two-day demonstration event.

The formation consisted of a robust five-ton V5000 matrix surrounded by four two-ton eVTOLs, which included three of the V5000 models, the cargo eVTOL known as V2000CG CarryAll, and the firefighting eVTOL dubbed V2000CGF CarryAll. Over a coordinated flight that lasted 47 minutes, the lead V5000 aircraft covered an impressive distance of over 133 kilometers—with the entire operation being handled autonomously without any human intervention.

The event was attended by a diverse assembly of professionals from the eVTOL industry, representatives from the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and various clients and partners from AutoFlight. Attendees had the opportunity to witness the extraordinary formation flight from the scenic shores of Lake Dianshan, while also visiting Sunship, AutoFlight's innovative eco-friendly vertiport, which is situated on the water.

Despite challenging weather conditions, including strong winds, the team managed to maintain a stable formation while ensuring both horizontal and vertical safety distances between the different aircraft models. This successful demonstration follows an earlier test from May 2026, which included a formation of three aircraft, underscoring AutoFlight's continuous advancement in managing and coordinating multiple eVTOL models across varying weight classes.

This latest success not only marks a milestone for AutoFlight but also showcases the company’s growing capabilities in the autonomous operation of various aircraft types. The implications of such technological achievements are wide-reaching, laying a foundation for future low-altitude transportation networks that could seamlessly integrate long-range, regional, and last-mile travel solutions.

AutoFlight is actively engaging in the evolution of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), seeking innovative approaches to connect air and maritime traffic through eVTOL technologies and platforms like Sunship. This pioneering approach is edging closer to realizing a vision of interconnected transportation that could revolutionize urban mobility and commuting.

As we move forward into an era where electric and autonomous flying vehicles become commonplace, AutoFlight's recent accomplishment stands as a beacon of progress, demonstrating not just the potential of eVTOL technology but also the promising future of environmentally integrated transportation systems. With continued innovations and successful tests, the road ahead looks bright for aerial mobility and the aspirations of those who dare to redefine aviation as we know it.
