Exploring Eco-Friendly Innovation in Mining at the 2026 Expo by Zoomlion
On May 16, 2026, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. hosted the 2026 Global Mining Machinery Expo in Changsha, China, attracting over 500 participants from nearly 30 countries. The expo served as a platform to showcase the company's latest advancements in mining solutions, focusing on heavy-load machinery, electric and hybrid equipment, and autonomous systems, all designed to promote environmentally friendly practices in the mining sector.
One of the event's highlights was the display of Zoomlion's flagship models, including the ZWL360 Hybrid Wheeled Loader, the ZTE450HEV Hybrid Electric-Drive Mining Truck, and the ZE1650G Dual-Engine Mining Excavator. The ZWL360 stands out as the world's largest hybrid wheeled loader, offering a load capacity of 36 tons while also achieving impressive energy savings of over 15% compared to traditional models. The ZTE450HEV, capable of carrying 240 tons, utilizes a diesel-electric drivetrain that features energy recovery systems, thereby optimizing fuel efficiency. The ZE1650G operates using two QSM15 engines, making it resilient in harsh mining conditions.
At the expo, Zoomlion also introduced over 40 new energy mining products, including the ZT160HEV hybrid and ZT165EV pure electric trucks, which have been in operation at various mines globally, logging more than 8,000 hours of service each. A significant focus of the event was on proprietary green technologies, such as the ZM-i Adaptive Super Energy Management System. This cutting-edge system provides a remarkable 20% reduction in fuel consumption by harnessing a true hybrid architecture that simultaneously employs both diesel and electric power under heavy loads.
Another major highlight was the showcase of autonomous haulage capabilities. Zoomlion has successfully deployed nearly 100 autonomous mining trucks across various sites in China, designed for navigation, obstacle avoidance, and collaborative operations with excavators. An exciting live demonstration featured the coordinated operation of the ZE985G remote-controlled excavator, paired with both the ZT118EV electric truck and the ZT160HEV hybrid truck, combining remote operation and autonomous haulage.
In addition to hardware advancements, Zoomlion unveiled two state-of-the-art software platforms, the Mine Smart Supervision Platform 2.0 and the Mine Operation Diagnosis Platform 2.0. These platforms allow real-time data streaming from the field to the cloud, enabling monitoring, predictive maintenance, and efficient fault tracking of mining equipment. They also introduced an intelligent mine assessment system that examines site conditions, assesses energy consumption, and recommends tailored equipment configurations for each mine, having already been deployed in over 150 mines and leading to more than 200 customized project plans.
As stated by Yuan Ye, Vice President of Zoomlion, the company is committed to continually investing in innovation to strengthen its technical foundations and foster deeper partnerships with customers worldwide. The 2026 Global Mining Machinery Expo reaffirmed Zoomlion's leadership in developing advanced, green, and intelligent solutions for the mining industry, representing a significant step towards sustainable mining practices that benefit both the environment and the economy. With a clear commitment to eco-friendly technology and an innovative spirit, Zoomlion is poised to reshape the future of mining.
