JAF Tokyo's Traffic Safety Poster Contest
The Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) Tokyo Branch, led by Director Kato Kazuo, is excited to announce the second edition of its poster contest titled "Let's Eliminate Traffic Accidents Together!" This initiative runs from July 1 to September 30, 2025, and is open to elementary school students residing or studying in Tokyo.
In an effort to enhance understanding of traffic rules and foster appropriate traffic behavior among children, this contest encourages students to express their creativity while engaging with essential safety themes.
Background and Goals
During the first contest held last year, an impressive 72 entries were submitted. This year, JAF is expanding the initiative by collaborating with seven additional sponsoring organizations, increasing the number of awards from the previous year to a total of 14 prizes. The overarching goal of this initiative is to cultivate traffic safety awareness among future generations and contribute to zero traffic accidents within local communities.
Prizes and Recognition
All participants will receive exclusive JAF-themed merchandise, while 14 winners will be awarded gift cards for their outstanding work. Each winning entry will also include a JAF original Tomica toy and a special entry ticket to the Kandu theme park located in the Aeon Mall Makuhari New City.
- The gift cards vary in amount depending on the award category, with the Grand Prize winner receiving a generous ¥30,000 gift card.
Submission Details
The contest is open to all elementary school students in Tokyo, and entries must be submitted by 5 PM on September 30, 2025. Parents' consent is required for submissions, emphasizing the importance of adult involvement in encouraging children's creativity and safety consciousness. More details can be found through the official JAF Tokyo website.
Collaborative Support
This poster competition is made possible thanks to the support from various organizations, including the Japan Automobile Dealers Association Tokyo Branch, the Tokyo Automotive Maintenance Association, and other notable associations in the transportation sector. In addition, the contest is sponsored by the Kanto Transport Bureau, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Tokyo Police Department, and supported by NHK.
By engaging young students in such creative endeavors, JAF Tokyo aims not only to instill important values regarding traffic safety in children but also to strengthen community ties in promoting a safer environment for everyone. Together, let's hope for a future where accidents are a thing of the past.
