Horizon Petroleum Achieves Successful Flow Testing at Lachowice-7 Gas Well in Poland
Horizon Petroleum Ltd. has made significant strides in its operations by successfully completing the flow testing program at the Lachowice-7 gas well located in the Bielsko-Biala concession in southern Poland. This achievement is noteworthy as it moves the company closer to actual production of gas from this site. Following an intensive cleaning and stimulation process, the L7 well was subjected to a series of tests that showcased promising flow rates and pressure characteristics.
After conducting a nitrified acid stimulation program on September 23, 2026, the well was operated using temporary on-site testing equipment. The initial stage involved a cleanup period which lasted for 30 hours, recording a flow rate of 4.95 MMcf/d at a wellhead pressure of 2,100 psi. This data point, albeit temporary, indicates the promising capacity of the reservoir. Following this, a pre-main-flow test was conducted, attaining a higher flow rate of 6.75 MMcf/d at 2,362 psi pressure, which further substantiated the well's potential.
The main flow test spanned over six days, during which the well displayed an initial gas flow rate of 5 MMcf/d, tapering off to 2.5 MMcf/d by the end of the testing phase. These results aligned with Horizon's projections for the L7 well, indicating that the reservoir is performing as anticipated. Notably, the team recorded a total production output of approximately 26.5 MMcf of natural gas alongside 170 barrels of condensate throughout all phases of the flow testing program.
As the well is currently shut in for a planned 30-day pressure build-up period, the data gathered will play a vital role in understanding the complex reservoir dynamics. Company CEO Dr. David Winter expressed excitement regarding the results, as they signal a potential path forward. He mentioned the team's intention to launch an Early Production Phase, targeting the third quarter of 2027. This phase is aimed at generating cash flow through the establishment of initial electricity sales while also exploring opportunities in compressed natural gas (CNG).
Horizon Petroleum is particularly focused on contributing to European energy independence through the development of its natural gas resources. The company is moving ahead with a well-defined commercialization strategy that will involve technical evaluations, regulatory approvals, and development planning. As Horizon moves toward full-scale field development, the importance of this successful flow test cannot be understated.
In conclusion, Horizon Petroleum's recent test results at the Lachowice-7 well highlight the company’s significant advancements in the Polish natural gas industry. With the analysis of pressure build-up data forthcoming, the outlook for the site appears promising, and further updates are eagerly awaited by investors and stakeholders alike.
