Envision Energy to Install Australia's Largest Wind Turbines for Neoen's Major Project

Envision Energy and Neoen Collaborate on Wind Farm

Envision Energy, a prominent player in green technology, has been given the green light to commence work on the Narrogin Wind Farm project in Western Australia. This significant initiative, awarded by Neoen, one of the leading firms in renewable energy, involves supplying and installing state-of-the-art wind turbines.

The Narrogin Wind Farm, with a formidable capacity of 179 megawatts (MW), will be equipped with 23 Envision EN182-7.8 MW smart wind turbines. These turbines are notable for their impressive specifications, featuring a 155-meter hub height and a rotor diameter of 182 meters, making them the largest wind turbines ever deployed in Australia. By harnessing advanced technology, these turbines are designed to optimize energy production, effectively providing power to nearly 100,000 homes in Western Australia and contributing around 3% to the annual electricity demand of the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

This project highlights Envision Energy's expansion efforts in the Australian renewable energy market, marking its second wind project in the country within a year. The company’s previous venture includes establishing turbines in the Pilbara region, demonstrating its commitment to contributing to Australia’s clean energy landscape.

The collaboration with Neoen is particularly noteworthy as it signifies Envision Energy's debut in connecting a grid-based wind farm for a client in Australia. The wind farm will integrate with Western Power's existing 220kV transmission line, enhancing the efficiency of power distribution in the region. Envision will partner with recognized contractors, UGL and CPB Contractors, to ensure the successful delivery, installation, and commissioning of these innovative turbines.

In addition to the supply and installation of turbines, Envision has secured a 30-year Operations and Maintenance (OM) Agreement with Neoen. This agreement is designed to provide long-term support for optimal asset performance and operational reliability throughout the project’s lifespan. Kane Xu, Senior Vice President and President of International Product Line at Envision Energy, expressed the strategic importance of the Australian market, stating that the Narrogin Wind Farm is a critical step in their commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions in the region.

“Successful energy transition hinges not just on generating more renewable energy, but also on developing smart energy infrastructure,” he emphasized. Envision’s approach integrates intelligent wind technologies, grid-forming battery storage, and artificial intelligence-powered energy management systems, collectively known as the Future Energy System.

Peter Cowling, Head of Wind at Envision Energy Australia, also voiced pride in collaborating with Neoen to bring Australia’s largest wind turbines to life, reinforcing the mutual commitment to quality and safety throughout the project. He highlighted that such projects pave the way for long-term relationships and demonstrate the effectiveness of their technology in real-world applications.

Jean-Christophe Cheylus, Neoen’s Regional CEO, expressed gratitude towards partners and stakeholders, including Synergy and the Government of Western Australia, reflecting on the collaborative efforts that made this project feasible. He acknowledged the involvement of host landowners and the Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation, emphasizing community engagement in their mission to provide clean and reliable energy.

As Envision Energy strengthens its presence in Australia, the milestones achieved through the Narrogin Wind Farm align closely with its global objectives to foster a Future Energy System. Having delivered over 100 gigawatts (GW) of wind capacity and more than 50 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery storage systems worldwide, Envision continues to blend global innovations with local initiatives to spearhead the shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
