Aging Life Care Month: Engaging Free Sessions for Caregivers Offered by ALCA

ALCA Celebrates National Aging Life Care Month

May is designated as National Aging Life Care Month, and the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA) is stepping up to provide invaluable support for family caregivers, solo-agers, and anyone dealing with the intricacies of aging. Throughout this month, ALCA is offering free sessions dubbed "Ask an Aging Life Care Manager," designed to equip individuals with expert advice and personalized guidance on aging care.

What to Expect

Each of these sessions, lasting 45 minutes, will be intimate and engaging, limited to a small group of participants. The format allows attendees to ask questions and explore various aging care options, while discovering how an Aging Life Care Manager can assist them through every phase of the aging journey.

Steven Barlam, the President of ALCA, emphasizes the importance of these offerings, stating, “We aim to give back to the community and raise awareness about the essential services our professionals provide. Whether you’re caring for an aging parent, preparing for your own future as a solo-ager, or simply curious about the resources at your disposal, this series is crafted to provide clarity, comfort, and a connection to the available services.”

Session Details

Participants are encouraged to register promptly and attend only one session in order to maximize availability for others. The sessions will thoroughly introduce Aging Life Care™ services ranging from initial assessments to care coordination, advocacy, housing transitions, and healthcare navigation. Armed with this knowledge, families and individuals can make well-informed and confident decisions concerning their aging needs.

Aging Life Care Month marks its 14th year, and ALCA hopes to not only enhance awareness of the services available but also attract more individuals to this expanding profession. Aging Life Care Managers hail from diverse backgrounds in health and human services such as social work, nursing, gerontology, and mental health, as well as occupational, physical, and recreational therapies.

Registration and Event Schedule

Registration for the "Ask an Aging Life Care Manager" sessions is now open and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interested individuals can visit the ALCA website for more information and registration details. The schedule for the sessions is as follows:
