Valley Children's Healthcare and Topgolf: A Bright Future Ahead
On October 6, 2026, Valley Children's Healthcare and Topgolf, a renowned leader in sports and entertainment, embarked on a new chapter together with the groundbreaking of Topgolf San Joaquin Valley. This initiative signifies a critical milestone for both organizations and is the first major tenant in a planned mixed-use development at Valley Children's Hospital campus in Central California.
A Vision for Community Development
Valley Children's Hospital aims to evolve beyond just healthcare by integrating various community services such as retail, dining, hospitality, and entertainment. President and CEO Todd Suntrapak expressed the organization's commitment to rethink healthcare sustainability amidst increasing challenges.
"The groundbreaking today is not just about Topgolf, but what it represents for our community's health and wellbeing," Suntrapak stated. "This partnership with Topgolf is an investment into a stronger foundation that underpins the programs and extraordinary care we provide for children and families."
The Topgolf venue will include 72 climate-controlled hitting bays, a full-service restaurant and bar, and an extensive arcade. It will also feature a family-friendly mini-golf course in a unique design tailored specifically for California. This collaboration marks Topgolf’s first-ever partnership with a children's hospital, setting a precedent for community-focused recreational facilities.
Strengthening Community Bonds
During the groundbreaking ceremony, David McKillips, CEO of Topgolf, noted that the partnership encapsulates the essence of community.
"From the first visit to Valley Children's, we realized we had an exceptional partner, a hospital that has dedicated decades to serving families within the Valley. With this venue, we are thrilled to contribute to this community and bring people together through play and entertainment," McKillips remarked.
William Chaltraw, Jr., the president and chief administrative officer of Valley Children's Hospital, highlighted the critical impact that welcoming environments can have on families traveling long distances for specialized care.
"Families face unprecedented stress as they navigate care that may take them away from home for weeks. This development supports our commitment to giving a remarkable experience for children, families, and visitors whilst continuously investing in the community," Chaltraw affirmed.
Construction of Topgolf San Joaquin Valley is slated to begin immediately, with the venue projected to open its doors in the summer of 2027, welcoming visitors with an innovative recreation experience that integrates healthcare and community values.
