Rissho University Partners with Kids M for Eco-Friendly Initiative
In an exciting collaboration, Rissho University, located in Shinagawa, Tokyo, is set to participate in the
'Mirai Tankyu Festa 2026', a city-sponsored event aimed at raising environmental awareness among families. The event, organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Environmental Bureau, will take place on
November 15, 2026, at the western plaza of Shinjuku Station.
As part of this event, Rissho University will bring an engaging experience titled
'Why Do We Buy So Much? A Quiz on Everyday Food Waste'. The program, developed in partnership with the non-profit organization Kids M, will enable elementary school students to step into the role of “home environmental leaders,” encouraging them and their families to participate in fun and educational activities focused on eco-friendly actions.
A Fun Learning Experience for Families
The primary aim is to educate families about the psychology behind purchasing decisions and the reality of food waste, using interactive quizzes based on the program that garnered positive feedback at the university last year. This participatory lecture will provide families with valuable insights into the causes of food waste that occur in their households, equipping them with practical actions they can implement from the very next day.
Participants will explore questions surrounding consumer behavior, diving into why we often end up buying more than we need. Parents and children will have meaningful conversations about everyday situations that lead to food waste and brainstorm together on practical strategies to reduce it.
