Opti9 Elevates Leadership with New Chief Revenue and Security Officers

In a significant move aimed at strengthening its leadership team, Opti9, a prominent North American hybrid cloud and managed services provider, has announced the promotions of Cory Mac Donell and Mat Steinlin to Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), respectively. This decision comes at a time when the company is witnessing robust growth and is dedicated to further enhancing its leadership capacity to drive future successes.

A Testimony of Growth

Opti9's CEO, TJ Houske, expressed excitement about these promotions, emphasizing the importance of the company's leaders who have contributed to its development. “Cory and Mat have been integral to our team, and their advancement reflects the momentum we've cultivated together. Their experiences and skills will be vital to advancing our revenue and security strategies,” he stated.

Cory Mac Donell’s promotion to CRO is rooted in his extensive experience in the technology sector, specifically within cloud and sales environments. With a solid 15-year background, Mac Donell transitioned into his new role after serving as Vice President of Sales at Opti9 since early 2025. His journey in the industry began at HostedBizz, where he was the first hire and progressively climbed the ranks through various roles, honing his sales and business development expertise. As CRO, his primary focus will be on aligning Opti9's revenue-generating activities and refining the company's market strategy to capitalize on its current growth trajectory.

“I am grateful for the trust our customers have placed in us,” Mac Donell remarked. “This position allows me to build on our established foundation and propel our efforts to new heights. Opti9 is on the verge of something significant, and I am eager to contribute to that momentum.”

Commitment to Security

On the other hand, Mat Steinlin steps into the CISO role after previously leading information security initiatives at Aptible, a company acquired by Opti9. Since 2023, he has been pivotal in overseeing vital security and compliance activities related to HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and PCI assessments. Steinlin's credentials are complemented by his previous leadership positions at RISCPoint, Lifespark, and Peerfit, sharpening his expertise in security management.

Holding a degree in Application Development and IT Security, along with certifications such as CISSP and CISM, Steinlin is committed to ensuring the integrity and resilience of Opti9's growing platform across highly regulated sectors such as healthcare and finance.

“Security is not just a box to check; it’s a trust that needs to be earned every day,” Steinlin asserted. “As Opti9 expands, my responsibility in maintaining our security posture likewise escalates. I look forward to building on the solid ground we’ve laid so far.”

Future Directions

These appointments are strategic in nature, coinciding with the recent announcement of TJ Houske as CEO. This transition aims to spur growth through innovation and strategic partnerships while integrating Opti9's various acquisitions, including Aptible, to bolster its hybrid cloud and managed services framework.

As the company continues to scale and enhance its portfolio, the roles of Mac Donell and Steinlin will be instrumental in navigating the future landscape of revenue generation and security at Opti9. Their combined efforts are expected to facilitate a seamless expansion, reinforcing Opti9's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
