GoldMining Inc. Unveils Comprehensive Exploration Campaign for São Jorge Project in Brazil

GoldMining Inc. Starts Major Exploration Campaign in Brazil

GoldMining Inc. is poised to make significant advancements in mineral exploration with its newly launched campaign at the São Jorge Project, located within Brazil's vibrant Tapajós gold district. The company has characterized this as the most extensive exploration initiative in its 14-year history. With a robust plan in place, the São Jorge Project could set a new standard for resource exploration in this mining region.

Overview of the São Jorge Project

The São Jorge gold deposit is strategically situated in the south-central part of the Amazon Craton, specifically in the Tapajós gold district. This area is known for its rich mineral deposits and has gained attention in recent years due to successful exploration activities. The São Jorge deposit is classified as a granite-hosted, intrusion-related gold deposit, giving it similarities to the Tocantinzinho deposit located nearby.

GoldMining Inc. has mobilized its drilling equipment along with a dedicated geological staff to facilitate this promising exploration program. The program includes the following key activities:
  • - Drilling Campaign: The company plans to conduct diamond core drilling across a total of 5,000 meters. This comprehensive approach aims to systematically target areas of interest.
  • - Auger Drilling: Apart from traditional drilling methods, there will also be up to 3,000 meters of auger drilling to provide additional data about the subsurface conditions.
  • - Soil Sampling: An extensive soil sampling effort will involve collecting up to 6,000 samples, allowing for a better understanding of the geochemistry of the region.
  • - Geophysical Surveys: Airborne Lidar surveys and induced polarization (IP) geophysics will be utilized to identify new drilling targets based on the data collected.

GoldMining will manage these field activities from its established 35-person exploration camp, which is conveniently located about 2 kilometers from the main paved access route, Highway 163. This effective infrastructure supports a rapid increase in exploration activities.

CEO Insights

GoldMining's CEO, Alastair Still, expressed enthusiasm about returning to field operations at São Jorge. “We are excited to be back in the field at São Jorge conducting the largest exploration program in our history. The existing infrastructure has allowed for a quick ramp-up of our exploration efforts. We are keen on systematically expanding the known deposit and testing promising new areas, based on our geochemical and geophysical analyses,” he stated.

Future Exploration Plans

The company has already commenced preliminary fieldwork, including soil sampling and mapping, and is now working to mobilize drill rigs and personnel for the diamond core drilling program for the 2025 field season. Two diamond core drill rigs will be employed through a collaboration with Layne Drilling, a contractor familiar with GoldMining’s operations from the previous year.

The focus of the drilling will be on potential extensions of the existing deposit limits, with initial efforts planned to the northwest and southeast directions. Depending on results from the initial drilling, the program may extend further along the structural corridor.

The 2024 drilling program generated significant interest, with high-grade shallow auger drill intercepts at the William South prospect indicating promising targets for future exploration efforts. Notably, the 2025 campaign will include deeper testing of these exciting new targets for the first time.
