Sigenergy's Innovative 20 MWh Modular CI Solution Paves the Future of Energy Storage

Sigenergy's Innovative Energy Storage Solution

In the picturesque city of Burgas, Bulgaria, a significant event unfolded as nearly 300 global energy professionals gathered to discuss the future of commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage. At the heart of this conference was Sigenergy's innovative 20 MWh modular C&I solution, which promises to redefine how energy is stored and utilized in various industries.

A Landmark Project in Malko Tarnovo

During the event, attendees were introduced to a pioneering 20 MWh project situated in Malko Tarnovo, powered by Sigenergy’s state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This project serves as a robust example of the scalability and practical impacts of next-generation energy storage technology. It showcases how large-scale energy solutions can help industries transition toward decarbonization and sustainable practices.

The collaborative effort with Trakia MT Ltd, a leading solar company in Bulgaria, saw the implementation of this advanced system at a solar park. It consists of 90 hybrid inverters positioned in conjunction with the SigenStack modular storage solution, illustrating a significant leap forward in energy management.

Tony Xu, the CEO and founder of Sigenergy, highlighted the company’s mission to expedite the global shift to clean energy through their innovative and scalable storage solutions. "This project exemplifies how advanced battery systems can drive growth and support decarbonization across various sectors," he commented.

The Modular Approach to Energy Storage

At the core of Sigenergy’s vision is its modular SigenStack approach, which replaces bulky container systems with stackable 12-kWh battery packs. This innovative design simplifies installation with plug-and-play connections, enabling a completely tool-free setup. The remarkable part is that the entire 20 MWh system was installed in just 10 days and fully operational within two days, showcasing the efficiency brought about by modularity.

Galina Peycheva-Miteva, the owner of Trakia MT Ltd., praised the installation process, likening it to assembling building blocks rather than constructing heavy industrial infrastructure. She emphasized that this advancement represents a critical progression in C&I energy storage.

Leading the Way in Safety Technology

Safety is paramount in energy storage, and Sigenergy’s CI BESS solutions set new industry standards. The SigenStack system incorporates multiple layers of safety features within each 12-kWh battery package, including temperature sensors, internal fire suppression systems, and smoke detectors. This complex arrangement allows for rapid early detection of thermal runaway phenomena and enables swift localized responses within seconds.

In contrast to traditional cabinet-style systems that may take over a minute to respond, this modular design significantly mitigates the risk of fire spread, enhancing overall system reliability.

Furthermore, the advanced inverter platform includes a swift return protection feature and arc fault circuit interrupters (AFCIs) capable of detecting faults up to 500 meters away. To validate its safety performance, Sigenergy collaborated with global testing provider Intertek to publish a CI Safety White Paper, confirming compliance with stringent safety standards.

Zero Maintenance Resilience

Sigenergy's CI BESS is built on a solid security and modular framework that supports autonomous operation around the clock. With an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance, it ensures reliable performance under diverse environmental conditions. Unlike conventional cabinet systems that are often vulnerable and require regular maintenance, Sigenergy's solution minimizes the need for monthly inspections and extensive annual maintenance.

Real-time monitoring through a cloud-based platform offers complete insight into system status and performance, significantly decreasing the necessity for on-site inspections. Battery faults can be swiftly addressed, with individual units replaced within just two hours, streamlining logistics and reducing operating costs.

The successful execution of this project underscores Sigenergy's commitment to installation speed, safety, operational reliability, and intelligent management. Looking ahead, the company is determined to expand its global footprint and accelerate the adoption of safe, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
