Envision Energy Achieves TÜV SÜD Certification for Wind Farm Control System

Envision Energy Strengthens Cybersecurity with TÜV SÜD Certification

At the WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 event, Envision Energy proudly announced that its wind farm control system has successfully obtained the IEC 62443-3-3 Level 2 certification from TÜV SÜD. This significant achievement underscores Envision's commitment to enhancing the long-term resilience and cybersecurity of future energy systems, crucial in today's rapidly evolving energy landscape.

The IEC 62443 standards are globally recognized cybersecurity frameworks tailored for industrial automation and control systems. Specifically, the IEC 62443-3-3 certification focuses on the security requirements at the system level, ensuring that critical components such as SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), PPC (Power Plant Controller), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and industrial networking equipment function securely within a holistic control system.

With this certification, Envision Energy takes a substantial leap forward in its cybersecurity journey. The certification delivers independent validation of the integrated cybersecurity capabilities within its wind farm control system. It confirms that Envision Energy incorporates cybersecurity measures from the initial design phase through development, production, and delivery of its wind technologies.

Envision’s compliance with the IEC 62443 standards spans various dimensions, including:
  • - Certified Secure Development Life Cycle per IEC 62443-4-1;
  • - SCADA, PPC, and PLC systems certified according to IEC 62443-4-2 SL2;
  • - Wind farm control systems certified under IEC 62443-3-3 SL2;
  • - System integration and security maintenance services certified according to IEC 62443-2-4.

Together, these certifications illustrate a structured approach to cybersecurity, encompassing secure development practices, critical component protection, system-level security measures, and services provision. Yimin Lou, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Envision Energy, emphasized, “As wind energy increasingly plays a pivotal role in future energy systems, cybersecurity is vital for the safe, reliable, and resilient operation of wind installations. This new certification reflects Envision's ongoing commitment to meeting changing cybersecurity requirements and compliance standards across global markets, including Europe.”

Moreover, Lou also stated, “We do not see this certification as an endpoint but rather the foundation for continuous improvement. We will keep integrating cybersecurity throughout the lifecycle of our technologies, systems, and services to bolster resilience and build enduring trust with our clients.”

Frank L. Blaimberger, Vice President and Global Head of Innovation for Digitized Compliance Solutions and Connected Systems at TÜV SÜD, remarked, “The accelerated energy transition is driving the digitalization of critical energy infrastructures, with cybersecurity becoming an increasingly crucial trust factor in the technologies that power their operations. The IEC 62443-3-3 SL2 certification achieved by Envision Energy marks another advancement in implementing cybersecurity at the system level, complementing the security capabilities already established in its core control components. Independent verification against internationally recognized standards can help strengthen trust in the safety and reliability of wind infrastructure.”

Envision Energy's receipt of the TÜV SÜD certification not only solidifies its standing as a leader in cybersecurity but also showcases the company's proactive approach to ensuring the security of future energy systems. As the wind energy sector continues to expand, the importance of robust cybersecurity measures will only grow, further entrenching Envision Energy’s role in leading the charge toward a secure energy future.
