Horizon Petroleum Initiates Production Testing at Lachowice 7 Well

This milestone follows the successful completion of an acid stimulation treatment by its subsidiary, Energia Karpaty Zachodnie sp. z o.o. (EKZ).

On September 25, 2026, the company announced that after the acid stimulation, a coiled tubing unit was deployed at the well, allowing for the circulation of nitrogen to purge it and kickstart gas flow. By approximately 6:30 AM CET, the Lachowice 7 well was successfully flowing gas and condensate without further assistance from the equipment, demonstrating initial production capabilities.

The preliminary flow rates recorded so far are impressive, reaching up to 5.5 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) with a flow wellhead pressure around 2,500 pounds per square inch (PSI). Though these early results are quite encouraging, Horizon has highlighted that the well is still in its cleaning phase, and the reported flow rates may vary as stabilization occurs.

During the recent workover process, a notable amount of water was discharged into the formation, which is now being retrieved alongside the produced gas and condensate through surface testing equipment. Such fluid recovery is a standard part of well management following any workover and stimulation treatment. The expectation is to continue variable rate flow testing for about 24 to 36 hours during which both gas and liquid rates will be monitored closely until they stabilize. Following this, the well will undergo a short shutdown period to allow for pressure buildup, after which a detailed production logging operation will take place.

Historically, the Lachowice 7 well has shown significant gas deliverability, with past tests recording up to 8.9 MMcf/d in 1994 and a consistent flow of approximately 3.0 MMcf/d during a two-week period in 1999, which provides a promising backdrop for the current testing program. Horizon anticipates that these tests will yield more comprehensive data on reservoir performance, pressure behavior, and potential production sustainability.

The local community has taken notable interest in the flow testing, with the flare from the well visible from surrounding areas and local media covering the event extensively. While the initial flowback results are highly encouraging, Horizon has reminded stakeholders that the observed rates during cleanup should not be seen as definitive indicators of long-term production capacity.
