Enhance Learning Through Experience: Astronomy Special Edition
On February 22, 2026, Plus One Education, a subsidiary of Riso Education Group based in Tokyo, will host an exciting one-day tour named "Experience-Based Learning of Astronomy for Junior High School Entrance Exam: Constellation Edition." This program aims to engage children in active exploration of constellations, combining educational elements with hands-on creativity. From planetarium visits to original constellation umbrella crafting, participants will utilize all their senses to deepen their understanding of celestial configurations, names, and movements.
The Importance of Experiential Learning for Junior High School Students
1. Understanding Celestial Bodies through Hands-On Learning
Traditional classroom learning often struggles to bring abstract concepts like constellations to life. This tour bridges that gap, allowing students to explore astronomy in an interactive way. Guided by experienced science instructors, children will learn about the most frequently tested topics related to celestial bodies and constellations. Activities are designed to capture the interest of students from all backgrounds, whether they are younger students just beginning to engage with the subject or those actively preparing for entrance examinations.
2. Combining Planetarium Visits with Creative Workshops
The day's agenda kick-starts with a captivating planetarium screening, designed to ignite curiosity about stars and constellations. After that, students will delve into the mythology surrounding constellations and study key points that are commonly tested in entrance exams while crafting their own original "constellation umbrella." This hands-on activity helps students recall proper star arrangements and names through active participation, ensuring the learning sticks.
3. Transforming Fun into Academic Success
The ultimate goal of this educational tour is to facilitate enjoyable learning. Building on the knowledge gained during the activities, students will confront actual junior high school entrance exam questions, providing an opportunity to test their understanding. By encouraging a love for science and celestial studies, we aim to foster a positive attitude towards entrance exams among participating children.
