FCE Introduces '7 Habits J®' Program in Private Schools Starting 2024

Introduction of '7 Habits J®' into Private Schools

FCE (株式会社FCE), headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has made an impactful announcement regarding the integration of its educational program, '7 Habits J®', into five private schools starting from the fiscal year 2024. This initiative marks a significant step in responding to the shrinking number of students in Japan, which the Ministry of Education reported decreased by roughly 10% over the last decade.

As birth rates continue to hit historic lows, the landscape for private schools is increasingly competitive. They must now contend with a contracting market, making it essential to evolve and adapt their offerings to remain appealing to students and parents.

The Significance of '7 Habits J®'

'7 Habits J®' is a proactive education program founded on Stephen R. Covey’s book, designed to instill key habits in students that foster independent thinking, decision-making, and action. Through this program, schools aim to translate their educational philosophies into the daily behaviors and habits of students, ensuring they remain relevant and chosen by students in the years to come.

In today's climate, where declining birth rates have become a pressing issue, schools can no longer rely solely on short-term advantages like club activities or academic performance. Instead, what is crucial is how thoroughly they embody their founding principles and unique identities through their educational activities.

'7 Habits J®' has gained recognition for seamlessly aligning with school values and ensuring those values are actively implemented. This educational program boasts over 20 years of operational success in Japan, reaching a cumulative total of 360,000 participants.

Newly Adopted Schools

The following five private institutions have been selected to implement '7 Habits J®':
  • - Tokyo Gakuen High School (Chiba Prefecture)
  • - Sakaide First High School (Kagawa Prefecture)
  • - Tokai University Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka Prefecture)
  • - Saga Gakuen High School (Saga Prefecture)
  • - Kaisei Junior and Senior High School (Nagasaki Prefecture)

Enhancements to the Program

In response to the changing educational landscape, starting in 2023, FCE has undertaken a comprehensive review of the '7 Habits J®' program. They have adjusted it to align with new curricular requirements and enhanced its offerings to include a dialogue-oriented approach. Additionally, they developed a new program that combines the first habit with self-coaching, providing flexible class structures that schools can adapt to their needs.

FCE has also joined the 'AthTAG' project, supporting future athletes and endorsing former professional baseball player Atsuya Furuta as their official ambassador, further expanding the brand’s appeal across generations.

Comprehensive Support for Schools

FCE doesn't just provide educational materials; they offer an extensive support system which includes teacher training, parental engagement initiatives, promotional activities, and opportunities for leadership exchanges. This dedication ensures that schools grow sustainably and successfully in a challenging educational environment.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, FCE is committed to guiding schools through the evolving challenges in education via its '7 Habits J®' program and other proactive education initiatives. This new implementation is seen as a foundation for acquiring knowledge and best practices that can be expanded to educational institutions across all 47 prefectures in Japan, ensuring that a broader range of students can cultivate their autonomy.

'7 Habits J®' aims to empower students to engage thoughtfully, act decisively, and nurture relationships with others, which is vital for their growth in an increasingly complex world. Schools interested in incorporating this program are encouraged to reach out for more information on how to get involved.
