PTC Introduces AI-Powered FlexPLM at NRF 2026
A Major Leap in Retail Product Development
On January 6, 2026, PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) announced the launch of new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities designed to enhance its FlexPLM® retail product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. The introduction of these capabilities will take place at the National Retail Federation's Retail's Big Show scheduled for January 11-13 in New York City.
This innovative enhancement targets one of the most tedious aspects of retail product development—tech pack creation—by automating this often manual and error-prone process. PTC's FlexPLM aims to facilitate faster transitions from concept to sample by minimizing errors, rework, and overall development costs, thus enabling brands to be more agile in addressing market demands.
Transforming Traditional Processes
Historically, the procedure of converting design sketches into production-ready specifications has involved numerous manual handoffs between design and development teams. The latest iteration of FlexPLM leverages AI-driven capabilities to streamline this process remarkably. With automatic data extraction from design drawings, teams can immediately create detailed bills of materials (BOMs), measurements, construction details, attributes, and colorways, all while eliminating the need for manual data entry.
This transformation allows brands to significantly decrease development errors and costs, accelerate sampling and pricing strategies, and respond with increased agility to rapidly changing market demands.
