DeleteC Operation 2025: A Month of Action and Support for Cancer Research
In September 2023, a remarkable initiative took place across 124 Summit stores: the 'DeleteC Operation 2025.' This campaign is a part of a larger effort to support cancer treatment research through donations and public awareness. Over the course of the month, for every qualifying product sold, one yen was donated to accredited nonprofit organization DeleteC. This organization aims to accelerate the day when cancer will be treatable and was founded in 2019 to promote a supportive environment for cancer research in everyday life.
The campaign saw significant involvement from both consumers and manufacturers. Participants were encouraged to engage in four casual social actions—posting on social media, shopping, walking, and learning—raising awareness about cancer treatment research. This year marked the third iteration of this initiative, and it garnered support from 34 participating manufacturers, yielding a total of 182 eligible products sold, equating to an impressive 1,439,511 items sold.
To put this into perspective, this means that a total of
¥1,439,511 (approximately $10,000) was donated directly to DeleteC through the shop sales efforts.
Supporting the Cause Through Social Media Engagement
Moreover, community engagement was elevated through social media initiatives. During the same month, DeleteC held a campaign encouraging users to share their experiences with the hashtag
'#DeleteC大作戦 on various platforms. As an advocacy partner, Summit Stores actively participated by posting on their official social media accounts and prompting customers to contribute to the conversation through their own posts. This combination of online interaction and in-store engagement significantly fostered a sense of community support, amplifying awareness about cancer treatment research.
The Summit Go Green Match Event
In addition to the shopping initiative, another pivotal event—the
'Summit Go Green Match', sponsored by Summit Stores—was held on September 27 at the Komazawa Olympic Park. This official match featured the Setagaya FC women's soccer team, a part of Japan's Nadeshiko League. For every attendee, a donation of
¥33 (about $0.30) was contributed to DeleteC, making the event not just a sporting occasion but a platform for raising funds and awareness for cancer research.
The turnout for the match was notable, with
3,141 attendees, which led to an additional
¥103,653 (approximately $700) donated during the event. Through both the match and the sales initiatives, Summit Stores effectively engaged the community, further extending the reach of DeleteC’s goals.
A Commitment to Continuous Support
As we look to the future, Summit Stores remains committed to supporting DeleteC’s mission alongside its customers and manufacturing partners. They aim to continue fostering actions that connect everyday life to the ongoing fight against cancer, ensuring that the conversation around cancer treatment remains vibrant and resilient.
Whether through purchasing eligible products or participating in community events and social media campaigns, every action counts in the journey towards making cancer a treatable illness. Summit Stores, with its innovative approach of merging consumer goods with philanthropic efforts, showcases a model of how businesses can play a crucial role in societal health challenges. As the movement continues, the focus remains on amplifying the efforts to raise awareness and contribute funds towards potentially groundbreaking cancer research.
