BGL Facilitates the Successful Sale of Indo-European Foods to Ziyad Brothers

Brown Gibbons Lang & Company (BGL) is thrilled to report the successful sale of Indo-European Foods (IEF), a notable distributor of ethnic and specialty food products, to Ziyad Brothers. This transition represents BGL's fourth transaction this year within the specialty foods sector, showcasing the firm’s continuing commitment to enhancing food and beverage business dynamics.

Founded in 1966, Indo-European Foods has made a significant impact in the specialty food marketplace as an importer and value-added distributor. The company serves over 1,000 independent ethnic grocery stores primarily in the Western U.S. and various national chains across 45 states. IEF's product range is extensive, encompassing various Eastern European, Mediterranean, and North African food items, such as spreads, preserves, condiments, appetizers, cheeses, confections, seasonings, as well as specialty grains and rice. The company proudly owns several brands, including Indo-European and ZERGÜT.

The strategic decision to partner with Ziyad Brothers, a well-established manufacturer and distributor of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food products, is expected to position IEF for substantial growth and expansion. Ziyad, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, operates additional facilities in New Jersey and California, boasting more than 800 stock keeping units (SKUs) in its diverse product portfolio. This acquisition facilitates a great synergy between the two companies, bringing complementary brand portfolios and geographic strengths together to provide a wider array of products to their customer base.

Iman Navi, Managing Director at Corridor Capital, remarked, "Dan and Stephen ran a tailored and focused process that resulted in finding a partner we believe is well-suited to support the continued growth of IEF. We appreciate BGL’s Food and Beverage team for their guidance and unwavering support throughout this endeavor." The collaboration aims to enable IEF to penetrate additional growth markets, particularly in the South and Midwest, helping to solidify their national presence.

BGL’s Food and Beverage investment banking team, led by Managing Director Daniel Gomez, demonstrated their deep industry knowledge and extensive transaction experience throughout this process. The firm is adept at serving various clients within the food and beverage landscape, covering a wide range of areas, including branded and private label products, global supply chain logistics, contract manufacturing, processing, and distribution.

In summary, this acquisition by Ziyad Brothers represents a significant step forward not only for Indo-European Foods but for the specialty food sector at large. With the combination of IEF's expert distribution and Ziyad's manufacturing capabilities, both companies are well-positioned to meet the demands of an evolving market and serve customers with an expanded selection of high-quality food products.
