BLUETTI and Industry Leaders Converge at IFA 2026

On September 4, 2026, the IFA 2026 exhibition in Berlin became a hub for discussions about the future of household energy as BLUETTI brought together experts from BSW-Solar, Shelly Group, Flatpeak, and renowned publications like pv magazine. This gathering was centered around the panel discussion titled, “Energy. Value. Future. – From Energy Supply to Smarter Living.” The panel shed light on how solar energy, energy storage solutions, smart home devices, real-time data, and artificial intelligence (AI) are revolutionizing traditional energy supply into intelligent, interconnected home energy systems.

Home Energy: From Consumers to Active Participants

The panelists emphasized that technologies such as balcony solar systems and home battery storage empower consumers to produce, store, and manage energy closer to where it is consumed. Thomas Seltmann, a photovoltaic technology expert at BSW-Solar, highlighted the need for open integration standards, reliable data exchange, and favorable market conditions to accelerate these technologies' adoption. He stated, "The energy transition increasingly becomes part of daily life, and households actively participate in the generation, storage, and management of their energy. To leverage this potential on a large scale, we need solutions that easily integrate and are supported by an open and reliable energy ecosystem."

Furthermore, Seltmann pointed out the necessity for clear and practically applicable safety standards, referring to product standards for plug-in photovoltaic systems that were released at the end of 2025. Mircho Mirev, Integration Lead at Shelly Group, emphasized that the next step in smart energy isn't just about connecting more devices, but enabling seamless intercommunication between them. He stressed that “open integrations, reliable signal exchanges, and system resilience are essential for creating a truly intelligent energy ecosystem.”

Tom Hibbard, co-founder and Sales Director at Flatpeak, added, “A home battery is only as smart as the price signals it reacts to. Integrating BLUETTI systems with current tariff data means they charge when electricity is cheapest and cleanest and discharge accordingly—without the household having to think about it.”
