FREELANDER Expands Its Market Presence in the Middle East and Africa
FREELANDER's Strategic Expansion into the Middle East and Africa
FREELANDER, a premium brand born from the collaboration between JLR and Chery, is driving its expansion into the Middle East and Africa with ambitious plans set for execution in the coming years. The company has outlined a strategic approach to penetrate 11 key markets in the Middle East and is embarking on its entry into Africa through Morocco.
Middle Eastern Market Entry
The launch in the Middle East is targeted for the first half of 2027, with a suite of prepared plans detailing market entry strategies tailored to local demands. The selected markets for initial launch include the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Oman, and Egypt. In the United Arab Emirates, FREELANDER has partnered with Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors as official dealers, showcasing the brand’s commitment to establishing a robust foothold in this vital region.
During the FREELANDER Nightfall event, held in October 2026 at the Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, the brand not only reinforced its retail network but also announced fresh partnerships for Bahrain and Oman. Additionally, the highly anticipated FREELANDER 8 is slated for release in the UAE in the first quarter of 2027.
The Role of Local Partnerships
Lucia Mao, CEO of FREELANDER International, emphasized the core values driving the brand's expansion: "For me, bringing FREELANDER to the world is more than merely exploring new markets. It is about earning the trust of our customers every single day. This necessitates having an excellent product, strong local partners, and a reliable service infrastructure." This perspective underscores FREELANDER’s approach to forging durable relationships with local entities, which they believe are essential for their long-term success.
Entry into Africa via Morocco
Setting its sights on Africa, FREELANDER aims to utilize Morocco as its launch pad into this diverse continent, with Tunisia as its first two African markets. The brand is actively preparing for this entry, scheduled around mid-2027, and is currently in discussions with potential local partners to develop tailored sales and customer service strategies that resonate with African consumers.
The timeline for market entry, along with specifications, pricing, and distribution agreements for these new markets, will all be communicated through official channels as plans solidify and progress.
