Sheila Babendir Appointed Dean of College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

The University of Phoenix has officially appointed Sheila Babendir, Ed.D., LPC, as the new dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, starting January 5, 2026. Babendir's journey at the University began in 2008, and she quickly became notable within the institution.

Before her current role, Babendir served as the clinical director for the Master's of Science in Counseling program and has been acting as the interim dean since June 2025. In her capacity, she managed the day-to-day functions of the college, which offers crucial degree programs in fields like counseling, human services, criminal justice, public administration, and social work.

Academic credentials of Dr. Babendir include a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University (2008) and a Master of Science in Counseling Education and Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1995).
