Coherix Appoints Ed Allen as New CEO to Spearhead Global Expansion

Coherix Appoints Ed Allen as New CEO

Coherix, a leading innovator in 3D adhesive dispensing inspection and adaptive process control technology, has officially announced the appointment of Ed Allen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as of October 28, 2026. This change comes as the company looks to amplify its global presence and enhance its technological solutions tailored for the manufacturing sector.

Allen's extensive career spans over 25 years in manufacturing technology and enterprise software, making him a seasoned expert in the industry. His leadership journey with Coherix began in 2023 when he joined the board of directors, later stepping into the role of executive director in 2025. With his extensive experience, he succeeds Dwight Carlson, who will continue to contribute as the chairman of the board.

In his previous roles, Allen held senior leadership positions at well-known organizations such as Oracle, IBM, and Infor. Notably, he served as the executive vice president of Manufacturing Industries at Infor, where he led a cross-functional team comprising 2,000 members, fostering innovation and efficiency within the manufacturing sector. Carlson expressed confidence in Allen’s leadership, stating, "He knows our industry, our customers, our people, our technology, and our board's ambitions from the inside out. Ed is the right leader to scale Coherix from a technology pioneer into a global growth company."

Under Allen's direction, Coherix is poised to broaden its customer base across several sectors, including automotive, battery manufacturing, and consumer electronics. He aims to advance the company’s adaptive process control software and analytics capabilities while enhancing global operations to meet escalating customer demands. As manufacturers increasingly rely on advanced adhesive dispensing processes to fulfill stringent product performance and quality requirements, Allen identifies a pressing need for precision.

"Every bead must be applied in the right volume and at the right location," Allen emphasized. "Coherix integrates 3D vision with adaptive process control, enabling manufacturers not only to detect deviations but to correct them in real-time. I am excited to lead our team in extending these capabilities to a broader range of customers and markets worldwide."

Distinct from standard inspection systems which only identify defects post-dispensing, Coherix employs a unique approach that combines high-speed 3D inspection with adaptive process control. This methodology allows for real-time measurement of adhesive bead volume and precise location adjustments during the dispensing process itself. Such a closed-loop system empowers manufacturers to prevent defects proactively, minimize waste, maintain consistent quality, and enhance production efficiency.

Since the introduction of its 3D systems in 2015, Coherix has installed more than 6,000 systems globally, inspecting millions of parts for clients around the world. The company has committed over $100 million in investment along with over a million hours of engineering work towards refining this technology, which is set to significantly advance process efficiencies in various adhesive dispensing applications.

Allen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University and an MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit. His educational background, combined with extensive industry experience, positions him well to lead Coherix into its next chapter of growth.
