India to Host International Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026, Uniting 130 Nations
India to Host the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026
India is gearing up to host the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 from November 2 to 5 in New Delhi, where over 130 countries will congregate for a dynamic exploration of clean energy investments and international partnerships. This significant event aims to align political leaders, investors, and innovators to foster advancements in clean energy technologies and cooperative actions on a global scale.
Organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the summit will run alongside the 9th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH). Together, these gatherings are set to create a vital international platform that bridges renewable energy markets, optimizes multilateral cooperation, and introduces emerging technologies.
As India’s clean energy sector continues to flourish, the backdrop for this summit is particularly compelling. As of August 2026, India boasts a non-fossil electricity generation capacity exceeding 304 GW, with 168 GW derived from solar power. The country is targeting a monumental 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Achieving this ambitious goal will require substantial investments across renewable energy production, transmission, storage, manufacturing, and green hydrogen, leading to significant opportunities for international capital, technology providers, and industrial partnerships.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India's leadership within the G20, noting that it is the first country to meet its targets as set out in the Paris Agreement. The summit will focus on strategies to accelerate the global energy transition, exploring topics such as clean energy financing, resilient supply chains, green hydrogen, and scalable deployment models. For developing economies, this convergence provides pathways to enhance cooperation in accessing affordable energy, technological exchanges, and innovative financing solutions.
The ISA Assembly will, therefore, contribute a multilateral perspective to these discussions, uniting countries around practical solutions for solar energy development, mobilizing investments, and strengthening local capacities.
In the words of Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy and ISA Assembly President,
