Trilogy Metals Completes 2026 Field Program and Announces David Thomas as Senior VP

Trilogy Metals Completes 2026 Field Program

Trilogy Metals Inc. has recently announced the successful conclusion of its 2026 summer field program at the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) in northwestern Alaska. This program marks a significant milestone for the company, as all of the priority objectives set for the season were met, showcasing the capabilities and dedication of the Ambler Metals team.

Key Highlights of the Program

The 2026 field program involved extensive geological drilling and exploration activities. A total of 42 planned geotechnical, hydrogeological, condemnation, and exploration drill holes were completed, amounting to approximately 5,200 meters. This comprehensive approach ensures that key data for the mine design and infrastructure at the Arctic Project is reliable and robust. The Arctic deposit, known for its high-grade copper content, remains one of the most promising undeveloped copper sites globally.

Additionally, target assessments and advanced mapping were completed along the 100-kilometer Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide (VMS) belt, which plays a crucial role in the overall mineral potential of the district. This belt is home to numerous known mineral occurrences along with various electromagnetic anomalies that will be prioritized for future exploration efforts.

Leadership Changes to Propel Development

In a significant move to strengthen project development, Trilogy Metals appointed David Thomas as the Senior Vice President of Project Development at Ambler Metals. Thomas, who brings over 40 years of extensive experience in underground and open-pit mining, will oversee the engineering and operational aspects of the Arctic Project. His impressive background includes vital roles in various high-profile mining initiatives across North America and internationally, providing him with unique insights that will guide the development of the Arctic mine.

As President and CEO Tony Giardini remarked, the completion of the field program reinforces the technical data needed to support the permitting process. His optimism is echoed by the anticipation of a significant upturn in activities both at Bornite and in the Arctic Project as they prepare for the upcoming 2027 field season.

Looking Ahead

The focus for Ambler Metals is now on preparing for the 2027 field operations, with essential maintenance and repairs set to be completed. The ambition is to see a marked increase in exploration and development drilling, which is expected to culminate in a Draft Environmental Impact Statement targeted for October 2027.

In light of these developments, David Thomas’s leadership and experience will play an instrumental role in moving the project forward. His history with high-grade deposits, coupled with hands-on demolition and engineering tasks, ensures he is well-equipped to spearhead the efforts aimed at transitioning from project definition to the very stages of construction.
