Noto Peninsula Earthquake Recovery Support Event: A Day of Celebration and Solidarity
On May 30, 2026, a unique event titled "Noto no Osake to Shucchou Wajima Asamachi" will take place at Mitaka Station's north exit, specifically in front of the Musashino Towers. This gathering aims to support producers from the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, who suffered devastating damages from the 2024 earthquake. Organized by the Musashino Marche Executive Committee and the Tokyo Musashino Rotary Club, the event promises a day filled with joy, celebration, and meaningful connections.
A Rich Taste of Noto's Finest Sake
The event offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy and purchase various sake from the Noto region. Participants can indulge in tastings of 12 different local sake brands, including the renowned "Tani Izumi". Additionally, visitors will have the chance to join a special night talk and交流会 featuring representatives from the affected sake breweries, including the 14th generation owner of Tsuru no Shuzoten and the owner of Fukumitsuya. Attendees can look forward to hearing firsthand accounts of resilience and how these passionate producers are revitalizing their spirits after the disaster.
Reviving Wajima Morning Market
Also part of the program is the revival of Wajima Morning Market, traditionally one of Japan’s three major morning markets, which faced significant challenges after the disaster. Local producers will bring their beloved products, including dried fish, marine goods, the renowned natural sea salt from Oku-Noto, and exquisite Wajima lacquerware, directly to Mitaka, allowing attendees to share in the hope and the unique culture of Noto.
Local Collaborations and Special Menus
Throughout the day, diverse local restaurants from the Musashino area will collaborate to feature exclusive dishes crafted from Noto ingredients and morning market specialties. This unique pairing offers a taste of Noto’s traditional flavors, connecting attendees with the culinary heritage of the region.
