Kumho Tire U.S.A. to Empower Four Rising Racers in Pikes Peak Events

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Launches 'Gaining Traction' Program

Kumho Tire U.S.A., a major name in the tire manufacturing industry, recently revealed its inaugural Gaining Traction Program, aimed at nurturing young racing talent participating in the famed Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This initiative promises to provide selected racers not only financial support but also essential resources as they attempt to conquer one of the most challenging motorsport spectacles in the country.

Having selected four talented drivers, the program underscores Kumho’s commitment to the future of motorsport. The chosen drivers—Matus Huska, Earl O'Maley, Ernie Ramirez, and Ben Ryan—are all Colorado natives with limited yet impressive racing backgrounds, contributing to the excitement surrounding this local initiative.

Who Are the Selected Drivers?

1. Matus Huska (Parker, CO) - Competing in the Pikes Peak Open division, Matus has four years of experience racing his 2010 Audi TTS at Pikes Peak. His determination and skill set make him a formidable competitor.

2. Earl O'Maley (Colorado Springs, CO) - Racing a 2015 O'Maley Special Spec V in the Open Wheel division, Earl brings three years of dedicated practice on the mountain, showcasing his development in the sport.

3. Ernie Ramirez (Aurora, CO) - Returning for his second year in the Time Attack division, Ernie drives a 2013 Mitsubishi Evolution, bringing renewed enthusiasm and experience to his second consecutive Pikes Peak challenge.

4. Ben Ryan (Arvada, CO) - This old-school driver aims to make waves in the Pikes Peak Open division, racing a classic 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner after completing two previous Time Attack entries in 2023 and 2024.

A Commitment to Future Stars of Racing

Ed Cho, the CEO of Kumho Tire U.S.A., emphasized that this initiative supports not only the participants but the entire motorsport community in Colorado. “Investing in these four talented Pikes Peak drivers goes beyond just sponsorship; it’s about fostering the next generation of champions who can navigate the unique and challenging demands of this legendary race,” he stated.

Melissa Eickhoff, CEO of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, echoed Cho’s sentiments, highlighting the importance of grassroots support in helping drivers flourish and contribute to the storied legacy of the Race to the Clouds.

What Benefits Will the Racers Receive?

The Gaining Traction Program offers participants a comprehensive package designed to elevate their racing careers. Each driver will access financial support, a supply of KUMHO V730 tires—renowned for their exceptional performance—and driver development resources to improve their skills further.

Moreover, they'll gain visibility through events like an autograph session at the Kumho Tire booth during the Fan Fest in downtown Colorado Springs, allowing them to engage with fans and gain valuable media exposure.

The KUMHO V730 tire is specifically designed to enhance grip and handling in competitive environments. Its advanced synthetic resin and fine carbon black construction ensure adequate traction, while the high-strength carcass and optimized footprint design provide enhanced endurance and cornering capabilities.
