The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has taken a monumental step in the world of competitive gaming by unveiling its Club Partner Program, committing $20 million to support 40 esports clubs globally. This initiative aims to foster sustainable growth within the esports ecosystem while simultaneously engaging an audience of over 300 million fans worldwide.
Launched on March 17, 2025, from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the program will provide each selected club with funding of up to $1 million. These resources are intended to help the clubs expand their brands and cultivate their global fanbase through innovative content and marketing strategies as the esports community gears up for the anticipated Esports World Cup 2025.
Faisal Bin Homran, Chief Product Officer at EWCF, emphasized the program's pivotal role in promoting a future where esports clubs can thrive sustainably. He stated, _“The EWCF Club Partner Program is a cornerstone of our mission to build a sustainable future for esports Clubs worldwide while creating opportunities for organizations from some of the world's fastest-growing markets.”_
The selected clubs represent a diverse roster from various regions, including six from China, and others hailing from rapidly developing esports markets like Japan, India, and Latin America. This global initiative seeks to unite clubs that vary from legacy organizations to rising stars in the industry. As clubs leverage EWCF's support, they can enhance engagement through innovative storytelling and immersive experiences for fans.
Among the clubs selected are notable names such as 100 Thieves, Cloud9, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, and Team Liquid. Each club will have the chance to create compelling narratives and immersive content, fostering a deeper connection with their fans. Activities may include behind-the-scenes productions, player documentaries, and live fan events, all aimed at creating unique experiences that resonate with their communities.
Through a rigorous selection process, the EWCF evaluated nearly 200 applications based on competitive performance, social media presence, fan engagement, and strategic growth plans. Eight clubs received direct invitations due to their stellar performance in the Club Championship of 2024, while the rest were chosen from the open application process. Notably, nineteen clubs are newcomers, showcasing the expanding landscape of competitive gaming.
