ClariMed Inc. Expands Southeast Market Presence with We Are Human Acquisition
ClariMed, Inc., a leading global player in the development and approval of user-centric medical devices, recently made headlines with its strategic acquisition of We Are Human, a consulting firm based in both the UK and the USA. Specializing in user-centered design and research in MedTech innovations, We Are Human will strengthen ClariMed’s geographical reach in the Southeast United States with its advanced research facility located in Atlanta. This move further underscores ClariMed's dedication to making innovative, human-centered medical technologies accessible to communities that need them the most.
The Strategic Move
Annmarie Nicolson, the founder of We Are Human, will transition into the role of Principal at ClariMed, bringing her rich expertise in early formative research, contextual inquiry, and user experience (UX) research for MedTech innovations into the leadership team. Following this acquisition, the entire We Are Human team along with its Atlanta research center will become a part of the ClariMed family, thereby bolstering the company's presence in the southeastern US region.
According to Kelley Kendle, CEO of ClariMed, “This acquisition represents our ongoing commitment to our user-centered approach while also expanding our reach and enhancing our capabilities. Regional diversity allows us to better address the needs of our patients and advance our mission of making medical technology safer, more intuitive, and more effective for the individuals who need it most. This is not merely a merger of capabilities but a deeply aligned affinity of values.”
Enhancing ClariMed's Offerings
The acquisition of We Are Human further solidifies ClariMed's position as a comprehensive service partner for medical devices while expanding its expertise in areas such as user experience research, regulatory compliance, and design validation across both the US and UK markets. We Are Human is ISO 13485 certified and has significant experience with IEC-62366 requirements and FDA guidelines. The company has conducted extensive research with hundreds of healthcare professionals, laypersons, and various patient groups.
The Atlanta lab will serve as ClariMed’s latest research facility, providing access to diverse study populations throughout the Southeast while also supporting the growing client base of the company. Annmarie expressed her excitement about joining ClariMed stating, “Joining ClariMed is an exciting opportunity to amplify our impact in healthcare through user-centered research and design. Both companies have long been committed to putting users first and developing products that genuinely improve people's lives. This shared commitment to excellence and user-centered principles enables us to offer even more meaningful solutions—for our clients and the patients and healthcare providers who rely on innovative MedTech every day.”
Expanding Geographical Reach
With this integration, ClariMed establishes its first location in the Southeast US, strategically complementing its network of conveniently located offices across the United States and globally, including Chadds Ford (Pennsylvania), Cambridge (Massachusetts), San Jose (California), Cambridge (UK), Leeds (UK), and now Atlanta (Georgia). This expanded geographical network enhances ClariMed’s ability to service global clients while gaining access to diverse talent pools and participant groups for user research and usability testing.
This acquisition aligns seamlessly with ClariMed's growth strategy to develop comprehensive, human-centered solutions for medical device development. The combined expertise of both companies enables ClariMed to support drug and medical device manufacturers looking to shorten their time-to-market while simultaneously enhancing patient safety and usability.
