Oscar Mike Foundation's Ambitious New Campaign
The Oscar Mike Foundation, a renowned nonprofit dedicated to supporting injured veterans, has unveiled its most ambitious initiative yet, the "Carry the Weight" campaign. This unprecedented effort, which was announced on May 19, 2025, aims to establish a groundbreaking 100-acre adaptive sports campus designed specifically for veterans with disabilities.
A 26-Week Nationwide Movement
This six-month movement is not just about building a facility; it's about transforming the lives of veterans by providing them with unique opportunities to engage in adaptive sports. To fund this visionary project, Oscar Mike aims to raise an astounding $6 million annually. Their goal is to recruit 20,000 monthly donors, affectionately referred to as "Teammates," who will help sustain the organization's efforts long-term.
The Inspiration Behind the Campaign
Leading this charge is Marine Veteran Mark Jones, who has set an ambitious personal goal to break a world record by hiking 100 miles in 24 hours while carrying a 40-pound pack. By undertaking this challenging feat, Jones hopes to inspire others to support the campaign and invest in the future of disabled veterans.
Additionally, Oscar Mike will partner with Josh Allison, a recognized custom motorcycle builder and co-founder of American Metal Customs. Josh is constructing a unique motorcycle to honor the 250 years of American military service. If Mark achieves his fundraising target and breaks the hiking record, this custom bike will be gifted to the Oscar Mike Foundation.
Weekly Updates and Community Engagement
The campaign promises to keep the community engaged with weekly video updates, showcasing the progress of Mark's hike and Josh's motorcycle build. These emotional and inspiring stories will capture the grit and determination inherent in this movement.
"The Carry the Weight campaign exemplifies the spirit of resilience and community that drives Oscar Mike," says Noah Currier, Marine veteran and the organization's Founder/CEO. Currier emphasizes that this campaign represents a collective refusal to allow injured veterans to be sidelined by their circumstances. He passionately states, “I’ve felt that darkness, and I’ve had someone say, ‘I’ve got you.’ That’s what this campaign is about. We’re on a mission, and we will prove the doubters wrong!"
Oscar Mike's Impact and Future Vision
Since its inception, the Oscar Mike Foundation has supported over 1,300 disabled veterans, providing over 7,000 adaptive activity opportunities. Notably, they have also reported zero veteran suicides among their program participants—a powerful testament to their positive impact. This new campus will be a significant expansion of Oscar Mike's existing facilities, increasing their operational space from 9,000 to 42,000 square feet and enabling the organization to double its staff and significantly enhance its programming capabilities.
The new facility will be equipped with advanced technologies, offering veterans a national hub to connect, compete, and explore new possibilities following life-altering injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.
Building a Stronger Future Together
As Allison articulately expressed, the partnership between Oscar Mike and American Metal Customs transcends mere promotional events. "This partnership is about more than just a custom bike or a world record hike—it's about building a future where all veterans have the support and resources they need to thrive. At American Metal, we believe in honoring service through craftsmanship, and we are proud to stand with Oscar Mike in this crucial mission."
The entirety of the campaign will be captured on YouTube and through Oscar Mike’s various media platforms, ensuring the movement is visible to supporters and veterans alike. This initiative rallies around the motto of “Carrying the Weight” for those who served, highlighting the strength of community support.
