Angel Lee Recognized for Pioneering Cancer Fatigue Medication Development
On October 2, 2026, Angel Lee, the CEO of PhytoHealth Corporation, was honored as one of Taiwan's Ten Outstanding Young Women. This prestigious accolade highlights her exceptional leadership in developing PG2® Lyo. Injection, the world’s first prescription medication designed specifically to treat moderate to severe cancer-related fatigue (CRF), as well as her contributions to the advancement of herbal medicines and supportive cancer care.
PG2® is derived from refined polysaccharides of Astragalus membranaceus, a medicinal herb recognized in the World Health Organization's monographs on selected medicinal plants. It is also the first herbal medicine approved in Taiwan. PG2® is utilized in medical facilities across Taiwan to manage cancer-related fatigue and is covered by the National Health Insurance (NHI) for eligible breast cancer patients. PhytoHealth continues to collect clinical evidence for its proprietary refined Astragalus polysaccharides (rAPS®) platform, exploring its broader potential in supportive cancer treatment.
Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) presents a debilitating condition that significantly differs from ordinary tiredness and can hinder patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. Historically, it has often been overlooked and inadequately addressed. Beyond the development of PG2®, PhytoHealth has collaborated with Taiwan's medical community to raise awareness of CRF, transforming it from a commonly neglected aspect of cancer into a condition that is actively recognized and treated in clinical care. These efforts contributed to the formulation of Taiwan's first clinical guidelines for cancer-related fatigue.
Building on PG2®'s established clinical applications and regulatory foundation in Taiwan, PhytoHealth is actively seeking international partners in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to propel the global development of PG2® and its herbal active ingredient platform. "This recognition is not only a personal honor but also a responsibility," Lee stated. "Our goal is to translate scientific research into meaningful benefits for patients. We will continue to collaborate with partners from medicine and industry around the world to advance supportive cancer care and make Taiwan's biotechnological innovations accessible to the global health community."
In addition to Lee, the other honorees were acknowledged for their outstanding achievements across various sectors and their contributions to society at large. Angel Lee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from National Taiwan University and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to her executive roles in biotechnology, she gained professional experience at Deloitte and in the pharmaceutical sector with Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen division.
