Banyan Group Continues Global Growth Ahead of Historic 100th Hotel Grand Opening
Banyan Group’s Strategic Growth Towards 100th Hotel Opening
Banyan Group, officially known as Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, is gearing up for a remarkable milestone in November 2025, which will see the grand opening of the Mandai Rainforest Resort—its 100th hotel. This significant event not only marks a milestone in the company's expansion but also symbolizes a homecoming for the brand in its founding nation of Singapore. A weeklong celebration featuring various charitable initiatives will accompany the inauguration of this eco-friendly resort.
During the first half of 2025, Banyan Group has successfully made notable strides, entering new markets, launching additional hotels, and commemorating significant anniversaries that highlight the company's commitment to purpose-driven hospitality. According to Eddy See, President and CEO of Banyan Group, the focus is to ensure that hospitality transcends traditional offerings. "It’s about authentic experiences created through thoughtful design and cultural depth, combined with genuine care for our guests," See stated. He emphasized the group's commitment to positively impactful travel and deepening meaningful experiences.
Expanding Footprint in Africa
Looking ahead, Banyan Group's move into Sub-Saharan Africa is significant, with plans to open its first safari resort, Ubuyu, in late 2025. Nestled within East Africa’s pristine wilderness, Ubuyu promises a luxurious escape that seamlessly integrates with nature. It will feature six artisan villas crafted using local materials inspired by traditional Maasai architecture. Each villa will provide guests with private pools and panoramic views of the stunning savannah. For those seeking adventure, guided wildlife encounters and cultural exchanges will be offered to deepen vacation experiences.
Celebrating 20 Years in China
2025 also marks a noteworthy celebration for Banyan Group in China, where the company has successfully operated for two decades. Back in 2005, Banyan Group entered China by restoring traditional Tibetan farmhouses to launch its first brand hotel, Banyan Tree Ringha. Today, the group operates an impressive 33 hotels in the region, with new properties such as Banyan Tree Zhuhai Phoenix Bay and Angsana Zhoushan increasing its market presence. Alongside these expansions, the Banyan Environmental and Community Fund continues to drive positive community impact, with initiatives like a new clean water project in Lijiang launching in conjunction with this anniversary.
30 Years of Eco-Luxury in the Maldives
Banyan Group is also celebrating its 30th anniversary in the Maldives, where it has established a reputation for sustainable eco-luxury hospitality. Since the opening of Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru in 1995, the group has been recognized by the Government of the Maldives for its environmental contributions and enhancement of bilateral relations. This acknowledgment was highlighted during the recent Maldives–Singapore Business Forum, showcasing the group's commitment to sustainable tourism.
Strategic Openings Across Southeast Asia
In addition to its expanded presence in China and Africa, Banyan Group is actively diversifying its operations in Southeast Asia. The introduction of the first Garrya property in Vietnam and the upcoming opening of Homm Mandaue Cebu in the Philippines are key additions to its portfolio, capitalizing on the rapid growth of urban markets in these regions.
Retail Expansion and Residential Growth
The Banyan Tree Gallery retail concept continues to thrive, with its sustainable products now available on international flights, including China Airlines and Emirates. On the residential front, Banyan Group has marked its first residential development in Europe, Banyan Tree Padilla Madrid, and launched luxurious beachfront homes in Phuket, providing exclusive amenities and experiences for residents.
Global Recognition and Industry Accolades
Banyan Group's excellence has not gone unnoticed; within the last six months, the company has accumulated over 100 awards, including notable listings in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025. The brand also received recognition from Forbes Travel Guide, showcasing its ongoing commitment to providing top-tier hospitality services.
As Banyan Group approaches the opening of its 100th hotel, it reaffirms its dedication to creating meaningful experiences and fostering positive community impact through innovative hospitality solutions.
