Angel Yeast to Launch the Baiyang Biotechnology Park in Yichang This September

Angel Yeast Set to Launch Baiyang Biotechnology Park

Yichang, China – Angel Yeast, a prominent global manufacturer in yeast production, is gearing up for the inauguration of its Baiyang Biotechnology Park in Yichang this September. This new facility marks a significant step in advancing the capabilities of yeast manufacturing and is set to begin test production soon.

The Baiyang Biotechnology Park is designed around a green industrial ecosystem that emphasizes sourcing raw materials such as grains and carbon sources, alongside biological manufacturing and synthesis processes. This approach will enhance the global supply of high-quality yeast products, which include yeast proteins, high-nucleic-acid yeast extracts, specialty yeasts, and fermented glucose. Moreover, the park aims to provide stable and premium raw material solutions for the international food, health, and biotechnology sectors, thereby fostering substantial improvements in the biological manufacturing value chain.

According to Xiang Zuoyao, the construction manager for Angel Yeast in the Yichang High-Tech Zone, approximately 80% of the construction for the specialty yeast and yeast protein projects is now complete. The ongoing work includes the establishment of public infrastructures, such as landscaping and integrated pipelines, with plans to finalize the functional connection of the entire plant by the end of June. This will set the stage for a smooth transition into a functional production environment.

Fu Zhijiang, who oversees facility monitoring at Angel Yeast Yichang High-Tech Zone Company, shared that the procurement process for production materials and the development of production plans are progressing simultaneously with the installation of equipment. This strategic overlap is intended to facilitate a timely commencement of test production in September. To ensure quality standards during construction, simultaneous quality control measures have been implemented. Tasks like the installation of a 6.6-meter diameter by 28-meter high drying tower are being conducted with precision to adhere to safety and efficiency protocols.

The Baiyang project is anticipated to redefine traditional methods of protein extraction from both plant and animal sources by utilizing brewing yeast as a medium for microbial protein synthesis. This innovative approach aligns with global trends towards sustainability and environmental protection, reshaping the conventional food industry while catering to consumer preferences for healthier food options.

Once the park reaches full operational capability, it is expected to stimulate global bioproduction efforts. Zhang Yan, Chief Engineer at Angel Yeast, noted that new protein sources present tremendous sustainability, resource conservation, and nutritional health benefits. In the future, these sources are likely to emerge as a critical sector in biological manufacturing. Angel Yeast is committed to delivering solutions and support to satisfy the ever-increasing global appetite for functional and sustainable biological products.
