Huawei Collaborates with Moroccan Government to Transform National Education through DigiSchool Initiative

Huawei's DigiSchool 2024 Project: A New Era for Education in Morocco



In a groundbreaking partnership aimed at revolutionizing educational access in Morocco, Huawei announced the successful conclusion of its DigiSchool 2024 initiative. This project is part of a broader strategy to foster digital inclusion and skill development among the youth in the Kingdom, ensuring that every student has equitable access to modern educational tools.

Launched in February 2024, DigiSchool 2024 is aligned with Morocco's national education reform roadmap set for 2022-2026. It marks a significant milestone within the collaborative framework between Morocco's Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, and Huawei Maroc. The project is also part of Huawei’s global TECH4ALL program, which is dedicated to making technology accessible to all.

David Li, the CEO of Huawei Morocco, emphasized that the DigiSchool initiative exemplifies the need to enhance digital skills and strengthen public-private partnerships. “This strategic collaboration underlines Huawei's commitment to continuously invest in training and innovation to support Morocco's ambitions for inclusive and high-quality digital education,” he stated.

Project Objectives and Achievements



DigiSchool focused on equipping students and teachers with essential skills in various cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), web development, and application programming. Throughout the year, participants also gained hands-on experience in robotics and coding, tackling tech-related puzzles and improving digital literacy through interactive games aimed at sparking creativity.

The initiative unfolded in four well-defined phases:

1. Phase One involved training 265 secondary school teachers from all 12 regions of Morocco in information and communication technology (ICT) skills.

2. In Phase Two, the trained teachers received ongoing support while implementing their newfound skills in classrooms for the benefit of approximately 2,650 students.

3. Phase Three saw the organization of 12 regional hackathons from May to November, where 714 students were tasked with creating ICT solutions to address specific challenges.

4. The final phase featured technology boot camps held in Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir, gathering 180 students and 60 teachers across the regions. These camps aimed to refine ICT skills and enhance the projects developed during the hackathons.

During the boot camps, teams received tailored support to develop their hackathon projects and presented their solutions to a panel of judges, where the most outstanding projects received awards. The program's conclusive evaluation visit by high-ranking officials including the Moroccan Minister of Education, Mohamed Saad Berrada, underscored the project's significance.

Looking Ahead: Commitment to Digital Equity



The triumph of DigiSchool 2024 reflects the ongoing commitment of the Moroccan government to digitalize education and promote equity across the national educational framework. Huawei is equally dedicated to this mission, working towards creating a model for regional digital inclusivity and progress.

Through the TECH4ALL program, Huawei continues to advance numerous educational initiatives globally, collaborating with partners such as UNESCO and various governmental ministries. The DigiSchool project is not isolated to Morocco; similar programs are being implemented in countries like Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Chile, and China, all of which aim to connect remote schools to the Internet while boosting digital literacy among students and educators.
