New Evinced 500 Launches to Enhance Enterprise Accessibility Awareness
On Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) 2026, Evinced, a prominent software company specializing in accessible web and mobile development, unveiled a new initiative known as the Evinced 500. This program analyzes the accessibility performance of Fortune 500 company websites, providing a clearer insight into the state of accessibility across some of the largest enterprises in the United States.
Evinced's analysis revealed that the average Fortune 500 company homepage contains nearly 20 accessibility issues. Despite the challenges, these larger enterprises tend to display a better accessibility performance when compared to smaller businesses. Notably, a previously conducted annual study known as the WebAIM Million Report indicated that an average homepage across the internet has about 56 accessibility errors, thus underscoring the positive trend among the Fortune 500.
One of the key findings from the Evinced 500 report is that about 90% of the homepages examined had at least one accessibility issue. Financial services companies emerged as leaders in the accessibility sphere, indicating a strong commitment to overcoming barriers. Conversely, technology firms showcased some of the most significant accessibility problems, drawing attention to the ongoing challenges that need addressing in this sector.
According to Evinced, these findings highlight a crucial correlation between a company’s accessibility maturity and its organizational governance, operational rigor, and investment in modern development practices. Navin Thadani, the CEO and co-founder of Evinced, remarked on the importance of this initiative. He acknowledged that while improvements can be made to homepages—which are typically static and undergo rigorous reviews—the more substantial accessibility issues often lie deeper within authenticated workflows, applications, dashboards, and transactional experiences. These areas are more difficult to analyze and fix, making them critical targets for enhancement.
"We are still at the beginning of the journey towards comprehensive web accessibility," Thadani stated. "The introduction of automation tools geared toward developers is vital for tackling these hidden challenges effectively."
The launch of the Evinced 500 comes at a time when organizations are feeling increased pressure to enhance digital accessibility. Growing regulations, the expansion of digital services, and the broader adoption of accessibility engineering practices reflect a critical need in the industry.
Since its establishment in 2021, Evinced has positioned itself as a leader in the integration of accessibility within web and mobile development, especially for organizations committed to fostering inclusive environments. Their toolset empowers designers, developers, and accessibility professionals to proactively identify and manage accessibility issues, thereby preventing delays in bringing products to market.
Evinced operates out of California, with branches across the United States, Europe, and Israel. Their strong backing from notable investors such as Insight Partners, M12 (Microsoft's venture arm), BGV, Capital One Ventures, and Vertex Ventures demonstrates confidence in their mission and capabilities.
As the conversation around digital accessibility grows, initiatives like Evinced 500 will be crucial for not only raising awareness but also for driving real change across various sectors. In a world increasingly reliant on digital connections, ensuring that these channels are accessible is essential for fostering inclusivity and equal opportunity for all individuals.
