Industry Alpha, headquartered in Itabashi, Tokyo, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DreamEDGE Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian engineering firm based in Cyberjaya, Selangor. This partnership, established on March 4, 2026, marks a significant step towards enhancing automation in the Malaysian manufacturing sector by introducing Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and Fleet Management Systems (FMS).

Transforming Malaysia’s Manufacturing Landscape

The Malaysian government has laid down ambitious plans in its National Industry Strategy, the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030), announced in 2023. The focus is on the elevation and digitization of the manufacturing industry. One of its missions, "Tech up for a digitally vibrant nation," emphasizes the promotion of Industry 4.0 technologies in manufacturing services. Additionally, the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), outlined in 2025 for the period 2026–2030, aims to reduce the proportion of foreign workers in the labor force to 10% by 2030. To achieve this, there’s a concerted effort to encourage automation and mechanization within the industry.

As companies seek to transition from labor-intensive operations, the demand for integrated software solutions, combining robotics and operations management, is anticipated to rise significantly in Malaysia. While the focus of this partnership is on automated transport, the potential applications of what Industry Alpha offers extend far beyond this. Starting with AMR and FMS, they are equipped to manage the control of facilities like elevators, shutters, robot arms, and automatic warehouses. The company can provide simulation tools that recreate operational environments as digital twins for pre-validation and systems that visualize operational status in real time. This enables a holistic approach to factory and warehouse operations, which will be gradually expanded based on local requirements.

Moreover, the technologies developed for autonomous navigation, localization, and swarm control in the AMR environment present opportunities for applications beyond logistics and manufacturing. For instance, Industry Alpha has successfully adapted AMR's autonomous driving technology for operational analyses of forklifts. Combining DreamEDGE's strengths in IoT, AI, big data analytics, and AR/VR will allow for a broader application of these technologies across diverse sectors.
